Kylie Minogue is 53 now. She started her music career many years ago. I think her first hit was a cover of the song Loca Motion. She was engaged to Michael Hutchens singer of INXS long before he passed away. She also collaborated with Robbie Williams on one of his albums, did a duet called Kids. Cool song! She is also a breast cancer survivor! Love her!

Jay! Kylie became famous from being on an Australian soap opera called Neighbours, which did remarkably well in the UK back in the 80s and 90s, catapulting her to stardom when she decided to come here and make music. Her sister Dannii was also famous in the UK from being on another Aussie soap called "Home & Away" and also did some music but never became quite the household name that Kylie ended up being. I actually met her sister Dannii twice back in 1991, when she was over here promoting her single and I was doing work experience back stage at two of the events/TV shows she was performing on. Weirdly, she went on to have a kid with a rugby player from my home town!

Fun Fact: This song was written by Cathy Dennis. Cathy had 4 top 10 hits in the U.S. in the late 80s/early 90s -- C'mon and Get My Love, Just Another Dream, Touch Me (All Night Long) and Too Many Walls. She then became a successful songwriter with this song, Toxic by Britney Spears, I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry (co-written with Dr. Luke) and the theme from Pop Idol/American Idol to name a few. Can't Get You Out of My Head peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 but was a #1 hit on the dance charts and was #1 in a number of countries in Europe as well as Kylie's home country of Australia and New Zealand. Fun fact #2: Kylie took her version of The Locomotion to #3 on the Hot 100 in 1988. She almost accomplished a chart first -- had she taken it to #1, that song would have hit #1 three times by three different artists (Little Eva and Grand Funk hit #1 with their versions in the 60s and 70s respectively).

I think the apparent simplicity of the lyrics is misleading. I have contemplated the meaning of these lyrics over the years and I think they could be either the joyful beginning of a new relationship where some uncertainty over its dynamics remain, or it may be about a mutual destructive and abusive relationship that causes harm to both parties. At times the message is contradictory such as "stay forever and ever" while later on she asks to be set free and talks of the darkness and need within her and implies they are destructive. I think the song actually accurately depicts that never-ending cycle in many relationships where the hope for something special, unique, and meaningful is often exposed as an individual attempts to construct their experience into a love that does not exist and instead is merely an illusion and ultimately unsatisfactory for either one or both parties to the relationship.

A personnal favorite of mine from Kylie is "Two hearts", she impersonnates a rock version of Marylin Monroe and the song is incredibly catchy ; and that walk to the mike in the black suit at 1'48'' is pure perfection ! ^^. And of course "Where the wild roses grow" with Nick Cave, sooo beautiful ! Greetings from France Jayvee ! ;)

Awesome reaction video and you are amazing, I love seeing you get so excited by the music you review. I can think of lots of kylie minogue you could react to, but for starters it would be awesome for to review the official video to ' confide in me'. Next Kylie song -spinning around. Loved her since I was a little girl.(a long time ago!)

Kylie was the ultimate pop princess in the late 80’s and early 90’s. She had a bit of a lull until 2000 when ‘Spinning Around’ was released and this song made her on top again. She is Australian but she is an honorary Brit since we loved her in the soap ‘Neighbours’. She is just a lovely woman and she hardly looks any different now to when she did this song ( She’s 53!!!!)

I’ve never been so early. More Kylie please! She’s huge in UK households and she’s a gay icon. Songs I think you’d love based on your reaction to this song: Love At First Sight, In Your Eyes, Spinning Around and Get Outta My Way. All similar vibes and easy listens for someone that’s not yet a Kylie fan!

Been waiting so long for Jay to react to Kylie. I’m so happy he likes. Although she never really was huge in America (although she had 5 top 40 hits there), in the rest of the world she is seen as one of the few peers to Madonna. Legend 🙌🏼

34 years worth of material to delve into, I hope you react to loads more of Kylie; huge pretty much everywhere outside of the USA. And recently broke a new record in the U.K. with her most recent album Disco going to no.1, meaning she is the only female artist to have had at least one number 1 album in each of the last 5 decades (80s, 90s, 00s, 10s & 20s) Maybe you should check out her most recent video for the single Magic to see what she’s up to in her 50s and if she’s changed / how it compares to this track from 20 years ago 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

She is not only a great singer but a lovely lady. Her career spans decades and she is great not only in Australia but here in the UK. The more I hear her the more I enjoy her music. Her white top had my Mum saying she catch a cold in that which made us laugh but Mum would often say something that struck us as funny bless her. Listen to more of her please sweetheart and you will find there are many many great songs by Kylie. Take care and stay safe please my friends God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK

Hey I like Kylie but c’mon guys, some of the comments on here comparing her to Madonna are hilarious lol. Madonna is consistently ranked 1,2 or 3rd in most all time female music artists of all time lists, while Kylie doesn’t even crack top 50, or sometimes 100 lists. Plus Madonna’s in the Guinness Book as the highest selling female artist of all time. Sure Kylie is the highest selling Australian female artist in her own country but who do you think is the highest selling female artist regardless of where she’s from in Australia? Yup you guessed it, Madonna! Even in her own country Madonna is the best. So, yeah Kylie is great but stop with the craziness lol.

"affectionately" known in Australia as "the singing budgie"
@cd81903 жыл бұрын
while that may be regarded as "affectionately" now, it was initially an insult as critics use the term to imply she could not sing, however; Kylie did a warm-up performance to practice for a tour and performed with her band as The Singing Budgies, therefore, claiming the title and in the process redefining it as her own and removing the stigma the media had attached to it. Kylie's embracing of this term in a positive and uplifting way indicates her own positivity towards life and the uplifting message in her music that often seeks to unite rather than divide.
