The lead singer is Axl Rose. Yes he was in a church choir when he was younger. He has a 6 octave vocal range which is really rare. He is a natural bass baritone, his speeking voice is super deep.

Consensus is that it's only 5 octaves but that's still impressive. 6 is super rare Mike Patton (Faith No More)is probably the only major artist with it although the Kazakh guy Dimash has 6 too. I think Axl may have had 6 when he was young but even by the time this album hit that was probably down to 5 (he didn't exactly take care of his voice in his early career).

When Axl Rose was on, there arguably has never been a greater frontmen in the history of Rock, again when he was on, problem was it was 50/50 who you’d get, THAT Axl Rose or St.Louis Axl Rose.
@HeliRy3 жыл бұрын
St. Louis Axl was always a given, just a matter of when he’d appear. And that depended on if he started the show drunk... or became drunk during the show. Saw them in ‘94 and thankfully he seemed fairly sober at the onset of the show. But over the course of the concert he and Slash both consumed enough bourbon to kill a cow. By the time the encore was over Axl could hardly stand 🤘🤣🤘
@bramh41493 жыл бұрын
Not sure hat St Louis Axl is but by the reply, I'm guessing drunk. Not sure if you know about Montreal Axl Rose but look that one up. At the same show, Metallica's James Hetfield was burned and couldn't continue. I was at that show. '91 I think, could've been '92.

I mean, they're both phenomenal talents, absolutely, but Axl at his peak was 5 octaves and Pat is 4. I personally don't care what a singer's octave range is, but rather what they do with it. Black & White footage is from Donnington Monsters of Rock (UK) 1988 They played early afternoon, they were a new band, there was a horrific crush, 2 kids died. The event was cancelled in 1989. It later came back with safety barriers and a lot more crowd safety. The news of the deaths was broadcast over the P.A system as we walked away after the last band.. I was only a teenager myself. Won't ever forget that day..
@dopiaza20063 жыл бұрын
Bit of info here - the flight they are showing on concorde is to UK for the Donnington Monsters Of Rock fesitval in 1988. Two people actually died during the performance due to crowd surging. I was there, my first ever gig at the tender age of 17. Luckily we didn't hear about the deaths until afterwards so it was still a great day, headlined by Iron Maiden. To Axl's credit he repeatedly stopped the performance as he could see people were getting crushed, but sadly it wasn't enough. Some of the footage in the video is from that concert. Look at 8:12 - the Dunlop semicircular bridge you can see in the back of the crowd straddles the Donnington Park racetrack.

Almost every reactor at some point during the first 2/3rds of this song: "Wow! These guys are so full of energy!" Everyone in GnR: With big smiles and maybe even a laugh or 2: "Here, hold our beers."
