I have to say that I never cared for this song. I don't know why. The lyrics are great, the beat is consistent and the instrumentation is good. Maybe it's Pops Chambers' voice, not a bad voice, it just rubs me the wrong way or something. Let me be clear, this is just my opinion and I do not suggest, in any way, that it is shared by anyone else.

A song to transcend generations. The Flower children 🌹 from the Hippie age, peaceful protesters & sit in demonstrations against the Vietnam War. Us kids were scared, with the draft in place many guys I knew were at risk to be sent after we graduated when all we wanted & prayed for was peace ☮️ ✌️not senseless fighting. Hell, they didn’t refer to Vietnam as a war, it was a “conflict”. There were none of those guys that didn’t come back changed in some way. I’m not meaning to be a “Debbie downer” it’s just even though I love these songs they do take me back in time.

This is one of the greatest songs that came out in the 60's! As Congressman John R. Lewis said on September 22, 2017, right after the Kennedy Center screening of the movie Selma: “If it hadn’t been for music, the Civil Rights Movement would’ve been like a bird without wings. Music; it brought us together. It created a sense of solidarity…We need music now more than ever before!...We need the arts!” I've been performing this song for years; it's one of my favorite covers to sing!

Some songs are so memorable that they break free from their time and become timeless. This is one of those songs. Pure Americana...!!!

So many parallels to today - people crying out for peace, love, and understanding. This song was an anthem back in the day. Why don't more people get it? All the fear and hatred is manufactured to benefit people that don't care about us at all. If we love each other, we can win.

The lyrics and the guys voice really make this song a true masterpiece. Thanks for doing this song. I'm sure others have requested it, but "For What It's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield from that time period is another great one.

It is a great song, I remember being a young kid (born in '58) when Vietnam was going big time, and my cousin was infantry over there. I would use my lawn mowing money to buy and send him Hot Rod magazines and he shared them with his buddies. This song was on the radio a lot. Really something to think how far we have come, but the fact that this song still carries so much meaning tells us we still have a long way to go.

Possibly the greatest song ever. Not just a great song but so powerful when you think of the times that it was made and it's relevance and meaning to the society of the time.

My absolute fave song of all time. This song is uplifting and inspiring. It references the KEY GOD gives us all at birth that can open every door on the journey of our lives. It's your choice which door to open. I love it and your react was awesome, J. This made my evening brighter to hear this again.

The Youngbloods' "Darkness, Darkness" from 1970 only scraped the bottom of the Billboard Hot 100 chart (#86) but is one-of-a-kind song with a ferocious guitar break.

Jesse Colin Young sure had a great voice. Saw them at small nightclub in northern Cal when they were middle aged. They still sounded great and my buddy who grew up in Monterey and worked security at “Monterey Pops” was thrilled to the max. It was his last show, as he died not long after.
