Fun facts: Prince was at a studio (still unknown then) & she called looking for her friend Bootsy Collins. Prince is a jokester. He pretended to be Bootsy. When Chaka got there & found it wasn't him, she cursed Prince out. He apologized & they became friends. He promised someday he'd write a song for her. That's why he allowed her to re-record this! It was from his 2nd album in '79. He originally wrote this about musician Patrice Rushen. He had a crush on her. She helped him get his record deal as she was already established. However, she was best friends w/bassist Larry Graham's wife, but later had an affair w/him which of course ended their friendship. Years later Prince produced an album for Chaka.

Chaka Khan (The love of everyone`s life who is a musician). She was in fact the most popular backing singer to so many artists, it reads like a Who is Who, and even though she was with Rufus, she never ever felt she was good enough to have a solo career, until Peer pressure from all those artists she did studio work with and supported at their concerts, finally convinced her to go for it . . . . The rest . . . . . . :) is History . . . . without a doubt, the greatest female R&B vocalist of the 70s/80s/early 90s. Chaka, thankyou for coming into our lives with such energy and with such beauty and that smile, that could light the darkest of days :) . . . . . . . .Thankyou young man, for taking this true epic journey you are on, into mine and many periods of those times. Music from our period was made to stand the test of time, 37 yrs on from its release date, it still reminds me so much of what i was doing the first time i heard this, i was in a nightclub, it came on, and Whammo . . . . . .Dance floor was packed out!!!!! Everyone was high on smiles and energy and dancing anyway they could to release what they were feeling . . . . . . .I am 64 now . . . . .but i still love everything about the music from my time and glad that people like yourselves are taking it on another journey in time. To all music lovers out there . . . embrace it, love it, play it, Cry if it is sad . . . . Just feel it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
