The late 80's/early 90s club sound...my friends and I lived for the weekends dancing to all these songs. We used to regularly go out with about 10-20 of us guys and take over clubs dancing. Fridays were designated as all-out dancing, so we literally had on high-tops, shorts and t-shirts and would be sweating up a storm. Saturdays were still about dancing, but it also focused a bit more on the ladies, so we'd be wearing our Girbaud pants, collared, short-sleeved shirts and wing-tip shoes...these were crazy times. Here is just a few of the songs that, when you heard the first few beats there would be a bum-rush to the dance floor: The Sugarhill Gang “Rapper’s Delight”, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five “The Message”, Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock “It Takes Two”, Soul II Soul “Back to Life’”, De La Soul “Me, Myself and I”, Young MC “Bus A Move”, C+C Music Factory “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)”, Deee-Lite “Groove is in the Heart”, Snap! “The Power”.

Yo Jay, what you're hearing in TECHNOTRONIC (techno/electronic) is best described as the fusion of rap, house, disco trance dance music! Pump Up the Jam gets the party started, working up a sweat. In this video however the actual lead singer, MC Ya Kid K, is not featured. The women you see was a backup dancer they used because Ya Kid K was the first androgynous rapper. She looked too much like a little boy dressed in her "hood drag". So the record company pushed this video until there was push back from music fans, denying her gender identity even though many music artists were doing that very thing in the 80s. Here's a link to a live performance feat Ya Kid K kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6atcpyQqLJqh68

Randall it’s actually Belgian 🇧🇪 New Beat which is a heavy influence of early pioneering Chicago House and Detroit Techno, the bass line is a sample of Farley’s Jackmaster Funks Acid Life, it’s Disco influences Is more so embedded in House not direct.Trance as we know it didn’t really start to surface until 93 95 or so with Jam And Spoon & Talla2xlc

That disco vibe you hear is the sound that early house music embraced.

Europeans stay killin it with the house music. This song was massive, I was only 10 when this dropped and we used to dance all through my neighborhood to this. Doing the running man and ish lol Great choice!

👐👐👐 Go Jay .. Go Jay .. Go Jay 👐👐👐 Try Shannon "Let the Music Play" or Debbie Deb "Lookout Weekend (here I come). I spent my weekends in the 80s at the skating rink. Lots of moving music.

This song was an amusement-park ride staple when I was a kid. A fast-moving ride with lights and music, spinning under the stars...fond childhood memories.

This was everywhere in 1989, great tune. The actual lead singer was not used for the video, but she did get out on tour, I think in the US round that time. She’ll be close to 50 now & she’s conning for you JayveeTv 😂😂😂

This was one of the best albums ever, the whole album together was a masterpiece. Get up was a great song too. Check out the REAL singer from the band. You are watching the back up singer lip syncing

Technotronic was a Belgian dance group around Jo Bogaert (1956). The group broke through in 1989 with the single Pump Up the Jam, There are still many very good Belgian bands. 😉👍🎶

I saw Technotronic live in a crowd of around 80,000 in 1990 when they supported Madonna on her Blonde Ambition tour. Some other suggestions from that era, Black Box with Ride on time, Yazz with The Only way is up, Blue Pearl with Naked in the rain and 2 Unlimited with Get ready for this

They played this song so much on the radio that my friend and I changed the chorus to, "Ham on rye with mayonnaise..." just to entertain ourselves.😆 Great song to dance or exercise to. 😁

Takes me back to the days of dancing in a field at 5am😃 If you’re disappearing down the rave rabbit hole can I recommend K-Klass, Inner City, early Prodigy, The Source (feat Candi Stanton) etc. There’s loads of old great rave tunes from the mid 80’s to the early 90’s😃
