The late 80's/early 90s club sound...my friends and I lived for the weekends dancing to all these songs. We used to regularly go out with about 10-20 of us guys and take over clubs dancing. Fridays were designated as all-out dancing, so we literally had on high-tops, shorts and t-shirts and would be sweating up a storm. Saturdays were still about dancing, but it also focused a bit more on the ladies, so we'd be wearing our Girbaud pants, collared, short-sleeved shirts and wing-tip shoes...these were crazy times. Here is just a few of the songs that, when you heard the first few beats there would be a bum-rush to the dance floor: The Sugarhill Gang “Rapper’s Delight”, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five “The Message”, Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock “It Takes Two”, Soul II Soul “Back to Life’”, De La Soul “Me, Myself and I”, Young MC “Bus A Move”, C+C Music Factory “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)”, Deee-Lite “Groove is in the Heart”, Snap! “The Power”.

Yo Jay, what you're hearing in TECHNOTRONIC (techno/electronic) is best described as the fusion of rap, house, disco trance dance music! Pump Up the Jam gets the party started, working up a sweat. In this video however the actual lead singer, MC Ya Kid K, is not featured. The women you see was a backup dancer they used because Ya Kid K was the first androgynous rapper. She looked too much like a little boy dressed in her "hood drag". So the record company pushed this video until there was push back from music fans, denying her gender identity even though many music artists were doing that very thing in the 80s. Here's a link to a live performance feat Ya Kid K kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6atcpyQqLJqh68
