I went to a Madness concert in London, and it was in a pretty fancy theatre. At the break, ladies came around selling ice lollies (ice cream on a stick) from a tray that they wore around their necks! It was fantastic, and they played over two hours, and Elvis Costello came out as a surprise to sing on one song. Fun fact, I still have my concert sweatshirt!

@@JayveeTV I have said it on a few comments but I am disapointed you did that. This type of music is called 'Ska' Ska is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1950s and was the precursor to rocksteady and reggae. It combined elements of Caribbean mento and calypso with American jazz and rhythm and blues. Ska is characterized by a walking bass line accented with rhythms on the off beat.

I am so glad you found Madness. they have been bringing happiness to the UK since the early 80's and are still loved today. They are massively under-rated in many ways, because they gave off the persona of being silly, fun, mucking about , and just mates having a laugh, their music is often not as appreciated for what it is. There are numerous tracks of theirs to discover, and i would think each one will make you feel as fine as this one did. They are a cure for bad moods, feeling down or just a rainy day.

Madness are from a suburb of London called Camden and their working class roots shine through in their sound, it's very typically English. An American could cover this song but it wouldn't have the authenticity. Also, if you are going to react to the Video, look for the long version because it has an absolutely hilarious intro of Lead singer Suggs McPherson asking people in the street if they can point him towards "Our house."

I always get very nostalgic when I hear this song. It so matched my time growing up in the 60s and 70s

More madness please! Other good Ska bands to compliment this would be The Specials, The Selectors and The English Beat.

From what I remember, their videos are well worth checking out too, though I don't know how they've aged. I remember them being fun at the time. Madness were huge for a while and most of their stuff is fast and furious and fun.

Check out the Madness song "Embarrassment" - released in 1980 - the subject matter is quite controversial, I believe it was based on a true story.

Just Subscribed. I have to say well done for turning the volume up . Totally the right decision. This band is still going , I’m an original and still current fan . Uniquely British in every way . Thanks for the nostalgia. Great reaction .
