Nice start for a Lionel Richie song.. He had a lot of great hits when he was in the Commodores, and also when he goes solo.. You should react to more of his songs like All Night Long, Say You Say Me, Stuck on You, Dancing on the Ceiling, Truly, My Love or his song Endless Love with Diana Ross.. ❤️

I have loved this since I first heard it on the radio and when I got a good paying job I brought the album on cassette. I now listen to it on KZbin when I need soothing after a panic attack or I'm feeling very anxious. This doesn't make me cry as my husband plays this sometimes for me as he says it makes him think of me. I love your reaction to this and I agree with everything you said. I adore you, Jovaughn...really - but you made me giggle a bit with your observation of Lionel's crush not turning around to give him the time of day everywhere he creeped on her...did you not realize she was blind? That's why he's so aggressive at the end...because he's blown away that she was able to envision his face in her mind. Keep up the good work, ya cutie sweetheart! 💘

This song reminds me of my mum because she loved Lionel Richies music. I was a four year old child when this song was first around and my mum went through a really bad time at the time. I used to see her cry a lot and as a really young child I felt helpless and couldn't understand her pain despite knowing that she was hurting. When I'd hear this song and I would cry buckets. Even though the lyrics have no connection, the song reminds me of my mum and I always get emotional thinking about her going through so much pain and not being able to help at the time. Music can be incredibly powerful.

Oh man, I had so many emotions watching you react to this. The song does always choke me up, it’s beautiful and Lionel sounds so earnest in his longing. But also you kept cracking me up with your comments, especially that final “hello” that was definitely so aggressive in the video. I always used to laugh at the scene where he calls her and starts singing, then just drops the phone like he’s done and she’s still listening on her end like “Hello? Are you there?” Meanwhile he’s just singing to the camera like she doesn’t exist. 😂 It’s a cute idea for a video but there are a few scenes that don’t make sense to me. I’m glad you enjoyed this one! Love your singing at the end too!

Very moving song. I’d like to please recommend his song, “My Love”, it’s a beautiful song and brings back so many mixed memories, bittersweet I guess you’d say. Of a time that was both hopeful and hopeless and a turning point in my life where I made some impulsive, naive, choices that I felt pressured to make, that spun my life off into another direction and that still haunt me to this day. That song was played a lot back in the day and it was a favorite of mine and hearing it now can bring back so many different emotions both happy and sad. I have long since gotten myself away from the bad situation I’d created for myself by trusting the wrong person. I’m 66 and I’m now alone in life yet I’m happier then I was back then when I was young and not alone. “My Love” remains a very meaningful song to me about a path not taken, although I try not to dwell on “what if”? A great one by him with the Commodores is “Easy” also brings back memories from another place and time. Sorry all, I didn’t mean to “write a book” and bore everyone, “My Love” just stirs a lot of emotion in me, even today, I guess I didn’t even realize just how much. Have a good day all.

Their most successful period was in the late 1970s & early 1980s when Lionel Richie was the co-lead singer. The band's biggest hit singles are "Easy", "Three Times A Lady", "Sweet Love", "Just To Be Close To You", "Still", "Oh No", "Lady (You Bring Me Up)", "Sail On", "Nightshift", "Brick House", "Fancy Dancer", "Lady (You Bring Me Up)", "Too Hot ta Trot" etc.
