Just a bit of extra info - in Britain, a rag and bone man was a guy who used to travel round the streets, usually with a horse and cart, who would take your old junk (rags and bones) and give you a few pence for it. It was a way for poor people to get a bit of extra money
@Alcagaur14 жыл бұрын
For Americans - Sanford & Son was a remake of Steptoe & Son, about a father-son duo of rag'n'bone men. The cry "Rag'n'bone!" was something you heard mainly in inner city streets, given the concentration of potential customers.

For anyone that's interested. The name rag n bone man comes from his love of the TV show steptoe and son. Which is a comedy where the main characters are rag and bone men. Which basically means their job was to travel around with a horse and cart collecting items people didn't want anymore but could be worth something. It's what I would call a scrap man now. In my opinion, one of the things that makes this song so great is that he doesn’t throw around ornaments all the time like so many other artists seem to so these days.
