Remember going to jaywick in the late 60s early 70s with my parents ...was a wonderful place ❤

Jaywick / Brooklands could become the 'Sandbanks' of the Essex coast if only there was some serious investment in it, the beaches are lovely but there are too many dodgy landlords making too much money renting out run down shacks to people who have everything paid for by the benefit system. The area seems to have become a dumping ground the majority having no pride in themselves or respect for others. Unfortunately for those that keep their places nice, and there are quife a few quaint and lovely homes, they are in the minority and the locals are being overcome by the rising tide of incomers

It looked like a real holiday resort then. It is such a shame it has deteriorated the way it has as it has such a lovely beach.

We used to on holiday to St Osyth the other side of the gap in the sea wall there was shops bakers butchers Cafe Ice cream all as you came over the ramp for the sea wall we stayed in Chalets right right down the seafront before u get to what is now the Nudist beach there we large brick built bungalows and wooden chalets and caravans all gone now as the sea has taken it back.... as the **New** Seawall post 1953 floods as way back behind the Saltmarsh and Creek. There was a gravel railway than ran along beach and over Ray Creek where gravel was loaded onto barges.. the wagon are to this day steel I the Creek weed covered.. I sail from Bradwell and given few more years of tide rising I may be able sail over where I was slept as a child on Sunny Holidays to the Sunshine Coast - Happy Days and it is just about the driest place in UK and very sunny.. often after driving thru rain you arrive at Bradwell to see people painting the boats and no sign of rain...!!!
