And a FX6300 or FX8350 are much better then the Q8400. And still Jays’ advice for the Q8400 owner is “upgrade your gpu.” Am I missing something? I haven’t tested Q8400 or lower end FX systems in a while but pretty sure I am correct. I paid $900 for a 2600x on a Strix b350f with 32gb 3000mhz Corsair Vengeance LED Duke RTX 2070 OC, 256gb m.2 boot drive, 3tb HDD, EVGA G3 fully modular 750w 80+ gold PSU. I simply bought a new x570 along with a 3700x and 32gb of Corsair Vengeance RGB at 3200mhz and only spent a grand total of $200 more doing that, but I did trade a Ps4 for the 3700x, but I only paid $100 for that so it was quite worth it. (I ended up spending another $50 on a 550w PSU, got a 1tb m.2 for my new mobo, and paired the 2600x with an RX 5700 that I traded a PSVR for that I also only paid $100 for) got my 13yo nephew an entire 'budget' (compared to mine) system, and my own as well, for under $1.5k

I really don’t understand how so many guys are okay with these kinds of messes. My entire desk, including my PC, is pretty much immaculate at all times and it really doesn’t take much work to keep it that way. 15 minutes of basic cable management work when you’re building or upgrading your PC ends up being the difference between feeling ashamed and feeling proud every time you use it. I built my brother's setup on an Alex desk. At first I was like "oh cool, I can stuff all the cable in the cable management bar, and don't go through the hassle I went through for my own setup !" Then I realised that the setup would be centered, with the monitor excatcly in the middle of the desk, where the slit hole is for the cables to come out... And also that the PC sits half on the desk, and half on the little door that close the thing : If I want to acces the cables, I have to move the screen and the PC. That was not easy to cram everything in without it looking like garbage, but I achieved it, and honestly, once it is done, no need to think about it again... ... until you upgrade something. My brother had a 60Hz screen, anf wanted to go 144Hz. Fine, I mean why didn't he have one already? I let him pick one up online... He chose the cheapest "good" monitor with ajustable height and stuff, a LG panel. I overlooked the fact that the powersupply is not embedded into the monitor, but is an external powerbrick. So, I can't just swap the monitors keeping the same power cable, so I need to remove that cable, therefore moving the PC, etc a fking mess. And then I realised the powerbrick doesn't fit on the powerstrip to allow me to close the fucking door, I had to search for a freakin' power extention to be able to fit it, there is easily 2 to 2.5m of useless cable in that cable management compartment now. Morality : Use the Alex only for laptop setups

@Da Mighty Shabba There are hundreds of KZbin Videos showing you why it's a relatively bad idea to try and game on a workstation CPU (and more importantly mainboard). Watch some of those before you make your decision. Also, out of the about 10000 new games coming out each year, only 6 (maybe 7 next year) are capable of really using more than 4 threads, so ... Before you spend money, read some benchmarking articles and really figure out which CPU can give you the most performance per $. Or get something close to a 3700X because that's what the next generation of XBOX & PS4 will use, so it's a pretty safe bet for the next decade.

I was building computers for years. Ended up taking 15 years "off"(just had an old XP desktop and at the time a reasonably good laptop) so once I got back into building. I had no problem building it but what I was used to was IDE cables and graphic cards were powered by the PCIe slot(so no cables to worry about internally). I don't know how I ended up watching J2C(4 or 5 years back), but that was when I realized that NOW cases have space behind the MB for cabling. My first 2 builds worked, but looked messy. One was for my Brother-in-Law(he still uses it) the other was my personal build. Well, once I started watching it sent me into some what of a tail spin. I "had" to rework all the cables in my on rig(BiL is still working with the spaghetti wiring, but there's no window so he can't see it). I've since built 3 new personal rigs(although I probably need another few before I've got cable management down) and have been doing decent on cable mgmt.
