Yea, great to see some Anup in here! To answer the question, yes this is from his solo project, he has some pretty sick albums that he self produced. Along with formerly playing in the bands Monuments, Skyharbor, & Intervals he also does do session work & played on the Devin Townsend album 'Empath' alongside 66Samus & Morgan Ågren (that you've both previously reacted to lol).

It's worth mentioning that Anup does all the instruments (AFAIK) but since he doesn't really play anything other than drums at a professional level, he sequences the other instruments a few notes at a time. That's why everything is so quantized. + I fucking LOVE that guitar note where it's just so rough and heavy that you can hear the string rattle against the fretboard, chills

Yes! Thank you to the person that recommended this. I've been trying to get Anup on this channel for a while. He writes all the other instruments in a program. Then records his live drumming to it. Which I love because in most of the industry, it's reversed, and drums are seen as easily replaceable by a machine.

I was in first row at a gig once and at one part the singer took the China off the drumset (including the stand), went to the front and handed me a stick to play the beat on the china... I somehow managed to flap over the cymbal the other way so he had to pull it back into the original shape over his knee... I used to be a drummer many years ago.

Anup is a great drummer, but I think his greatest accomplishment is writing all of these songs, the melodies, without being fluent on guitar. He writes all this music but can't play it on guitar. He conceptualizes all of this music and records each note one by one. Literally one note at a time. And arranges them in a DAW until he has a song. It's incredible.
