Underlying the goofy presentation, this is a working critique of the nuances of linguistic discrepancies. Hardly the humour of the less intellectual type. Is it the most high brow comedy? The reason it's mouse > mice is because the plural used to have an -iz ending which made the first vowel more i-like (musiz > misiz), same with goose > geese. House on the other hand had a different ending (-o) so it didn't get more i-like.
