A comment for the algorithmoth. The regularly scheduled spontaneity is a great gag, perfect way to end the sketch. Also I assume the concept leads into Monottone? The actor who played Pastricia was great, mouthing "at all" is extremely funny. And a foley recording setup is a cool location idea, probably a rich vein for sound gags.

Leaving another comment here now that this is out. Take it as a sort of review. This pilot was remarkably high in quality. It sets up an interesting premise that could easily contain tons of comedic moments, as well as bits of intrigue and drama all throughout. Seeing Jazz Emu transition from a humble foley artist into the worlds greatest musician promises to be a worthwhile story, and I am along for the ride should we get to see more. I also think all of the other characters shown here are fun, and the actors performed well. Janine Harouni as Pastrischa (which is an insane name and absolutely conveys the kind of personality she has) gave a convincing aura of self-important, smug, and over the top in just a short amount of time. Ellen Robertson as Ulla was probably the key actor here besides Mr. Jazz Emu himself, and she knocked it out of the park! The jokes were amusing, and I was delighted to see the ending bring back what I assumed would be a throwaway gag and implement it into Jazz's (is that a proper way to refer to Jazz Emu?) decision making process. I think the set design here deserves a mention, because it really is fantastic. Tons of posters, pictures, and props all over the place, and a lot of them seem to be specifically created for this series. The set designers and art department (with Jimmy Slim and Henri Holz being credited as the key people) went above and beyond. Tons of little details here, some of them that you might miss. Definitely worth a second, third, fourth watch just to appreciate the background elements. The cinematography here was nice. Because the majority of what we're seeing is presented in a squarer 4:3ish (I can't recognize image sizes off the top of my head but it sounds about right) screen space, there are a lot of close ups and medium shots, with little wide shots. The result is a very intimate feeling with the cast. We're up close and in the action. It's also an incredibly cool moment when Crimpsy Dimpson (played by Phil Wang) makes his way into Jazz's studio and the screen shifts to a wider, more cinematic aspect ratio. I'd assume this is a result of Director and Editor Hunter Allen's post production as opposed to Jake Martin's camera work, but either way, it's one of those moments that you can feel, and it's exciting. The final thing I'd like to note is the score here. There are two classic Jazz Emu tracks that you'd come to expect from the man himself mixed in with the plot, and they live up to everyone's expectations. I don't want to make it seem like I'm ignoring them, but what I really want to mention is the music that underscores the drama and the excitement of the show's plot. It helps draw in the audience, and moments like Crimpsy Dimpson's entrance feature hauntingly beautiful tracks. The ending track leading up and into the credits also stands out. I like the sampling of the word "DJ!" That's about all I have to say. If anyone read all of this, I'd like to say thank you. I don't really know why I felt compelled to write all of this, I guess I just have a passion for cinema, enjoyed what I saw, and would like to see this thing become a huge success. Congratulations to EVERYONE involved here, and good luck with all future endeavors!
