I truly cannot believe how incredible this course is; I've seen piano courses that are not half as good as JUST this video. Bless you, WalkThatBass

this was really helpful, thank you so much!!💕 my main struggle in learning music with self-taught fundamentals, and what i look for in lessons, is explaining what's going on in the mind of the musician. this was excellent in capturing this, even if it might be basic info for you. i hope you feel this is useful enough to others to continue this series!

I just realized how hard it is to play arpeggios triplets non stop and always switching on beat 1 lol. I am playing on guitar but I still find your videos incredibly useful.

Great video. Your deconstruction - and progression through - these components of improvisation is clear, concise, and intuitive. Now it's up to me to try to adapt this to my bass guitar.

I'm just starting out learning jazz improv and have watched a few of your excellent videos. You break things down into steps with clear explanations and a path to follow, which is just what I need! The only thing I'm a little unsure of is which video to follow, this one or your 10 steps to jazz improv? They seem to be similar but I wonder which would be best for me to use as my pathway to jazz improv? Thanks very much for all your content, I'm looking forward to getting started! :)

Hey, great video and great content, thank you very much! Just one question: Why did you chose the D blues scale? Do I pick the blues scale depending on the scale the chords are in (in this case C Major => C blues scale), or depending on the first chord in the progession like you did (Dm7 => D blues scale)? Is there any rule? Thank you in advance!!!
@WalkThatBass4 жыл бұрын
Because Dm-G7 is in the key of C, which uses mostly white notes, picking a blues scale that also uses mostly white notes tends to work well. A Blues scale (i.e. C Major Pentatonic + Eb) would also fit well. Even E Blues fits ok. C Blues also sounds good, at least to my ear, but it has a few more black notes so tends to clash a little bit more with the underlying chords (which obviously only use white notes). But the short answer is - pick whichever scale sounds best to you.

I'm still a beginner at piano. Do you have any tips on hand independence? In regards to improv I struggle with having more than whole note chords or longer chords in the LH. Also though, I reharmed a two bar thing of london bridge from my beginner book using tips from your reharm video, thanks! Piano has been so interesting since I started since I know the general music theory but I dont have the technical prowess yet lol.
