You're amazing! Few tutorials or books talk about voicing in different registers, but that's what we need for playing jazz. Thank you Brenden!

Hi man, how're you doing? This video and it's second part have been an ENORMOUS help to me. As well as your other videos, which I haven't digged in yet. I'm struggling with comping in a big band, hence this is a golden info for me, as I'm not very experienced in this tasks nor in jazz (eventhoguh I love the style). I'm transcribing your comping over Cheek to cheek, as I found it brilliant and very musical. In case you'd like to use it in your courses or something, I'll be glad to send it to you so you give it a look. Lastly, in a near future I would very much like to contribute with your lessons or your music, so, if there's any way to make donations or colaborate in any way or merchandising I could buy, I'll be glad to do it. Since this material has been really helpfull and I feel kind of "in debt" haha. All the best, Andrés.

Hello teacher, this video is really helpful for me but I have a question, you played E note with your left hand at 8:05 to 8:06 for sample comping in key of Eb. I don't know why "E" note on bass because voicing you played right hand seems to be F7(b13#9) or B7(9 13) to next chord Bb7 or you just played E note as 4th of B7? wishes

Thank you, @Zajeckoza! As to your question, the E in the left hand in the excerpt you referenced is a part of a Drop 2 F#min9 voicing. The F#min9 is played as a chromatic passing chord into the Fmin9. Hope this helps!

thanks but i wanna know what the progression on 11:30 thanks
@jazzpianoschool4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question - @ 11:30 that’s a 2-5-1 with a 3-6 turnaround. So all in all: 2/5/1/3-6 = Dmin7/G7/Cmaj7/Emin7-A7. With some various subs and movements of course. Hope this helps!
