Lenny… The first time I saw RTF was at Hofstra University I think in the early 1970's and in one of your drum solos you finished with your last strike smacking a rim shot that ricocheted and spun about 10 to 15 rows out into the audience which was so damn cool! I'll never forget that.

It was great to hear Lennie White’s insights. I do wish we could have heard the full quote he was recalling from Tony Williams about being bound by gravity, and heard Lennie follow through on what that meant to him. Also, I read that for the Red Clay recording, Van Gelder didn’t like his oil can bass drum and talked him into using a house bass drum. In any case, he sounded fantastic on that record.

“The hype sticker included with this release has an error. It reads "All-analog mastering from the original tapes by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio;" however, it was not mastered and cut by Kevin Gray. It was mastered and cut by Bernie Grundman per the deadwax.” Still sounds fantastic! Bernie Maupin is incredible on this album!

The interviewer her is terrible ! He constantly keeps interrupting Lenny and won't allow him to finish a sentence. Just ask a question and shut up !
