I just discovered the instrument behind that sound i heard on so many jazz songs ! I thought it was organ with a special tone... I'm now officially in love with jazz vibraphone.

6 years too late, Tim but I just want to say this video has helped me so much even as a guitarist. I love vibraphones so I came here just to experience what a lesson would be like, but found tons of great information. Thanks!

Tim; I was playing KZbin roulette and found you. Your demonstration just showed me why I LOVE the "vibes" so much - from Lionel Hampton to The Checkmates ("The Percolator"). A MOST EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!! Thanks for posting!!!! John Shaw

Great helpful video but it is very difficult to follow what notes you are playing as you are using 4 mallets. is it possible to just use 2 ? Colin Bray

+colin bray yeah I'll probably do that in the future. I pretty much solo only with the two inner mallets in this video if that helps at all.
