This feels like a beginner, intermediate, then advanced progression in character design art supplies. The pen is standard and reliable but is limited on lines, the brush pen is more in depth but takes experience to control, then the brush is in its own entire ballpark but creates amazing artwork.

Winner: Brush In reality it depend what you are doing, for "comic book" art the pen is clear winner, for an art piece you will color and possibly user markers to finish brush pen. if you were to make me a piece of art i want the brush one with shading.
@coldfire7743 жыл бұрын
Honestly for comic book art I'd add another challenger ... The dip pen a ton of mangaka use it for their professional work and it allows a little more control over the brush but can still utilize the same inks and many of the techniques a brush can. And even then the pen I would say is best used when going back with other materials to add more depth to the piece

The brush artwork is just so cool. That's probably just the artist, but hell yeah. Also, I actually use a fountain pen. Because you can't really find brush pens in SA and my family has a thing of collecting fountain pens, so, that's my go to choice.

I'm from Belgium (we learned how to write with a fountain pen. Its mandatory) and I'm so used of writing with a fountain pen that I love inking with a dip pen (and colouring with a brush and ink/watercolours). I get what you mean. You can get amazing lines if you are used to working with a fountain or dip pen. 😁👍

The brush is the most versatile. And while many think it is outdated, there is clearly a reason brushes are still made and still around. The brush creation also feels the most complete. It has the most movement and life to it. While the other two are awesome and practical, the brush is still top dog for this fight.

When working with a brush, the "inconvenience of having to work left to right, or right to left" is made obsolete simply by turning your canvas. By doing this you can jump around different areas as you get bored or as they dry.. you're welcome.

Winner: All of them. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as styles they work well with. In the end it all depends on what kind of style the artist is going for. However, if I had to choose the one artwork I like the most, I must say the brush. I'm a sucker for that style. I feel like the pen and brushpen are best used when working with colors and other tools, but as a single tool the versatility of the brush can't be beat.

Oh brush and ink for sure. The ability to lighten the ink with water and fill in large areas is unmatched. The other two just feel kind of....empty? The pen was too precise, almost, and with precision you can see all the little mistakes you do. The brushpen was cooler, in that it had some really interesting line variation, but the brush was so elegant and artistic in a more traditional sense. The background blotch was a really cool touch that made it more interesting to look at as well.

Honestly I've used brushes and dip pens for calligraphy so I might be biased but dipping isn't that inconvenient imo especially since you get to choose how much ink you want at any given time. Also for ink you aren't limited on colour as much and there are specialty inks with certain sheens and particulate that can bring an entire new dimension to a piece artwork or calligraphy

Rename it to "2 BRUSH PENS Vs. BRUSH". My vote is for the brush tho! Reason: I think you finally did a tool justice in that illustration. The good points you have already mentioned. Don't like the fudenosuke bc it's hard like super hard the "soft" variant is better but still I prefer my pigmas. Use the soft variant for filling in areas. Im on a quest to master the brush pen I find it very difficult to use but it's so cool and essential to the style of art I do. :)

the BRUSH is the best, it takes some skill but that’s what makes it so powerful, once you know what your doing you can do anything, you can make thin lines, thick lines, shade, splatter. literally everything. And it feels really fun to use so in my opinion it’s the clear winner. Also you can dry brush! which is essential to creating certain textures. That’s the advantage of the ink running out on the brush (sorry this is long but i want it to win lmao)
