Nerd here. The melody is referencing the tonic I chord Eb over the ii chord Fm7. Major arpeggio based line throwing in the Ab starting at the 5th, 5, 4, 3, 1, 5. Over a I chord it sounds ordinary but over the ii7 it is Simple and beautiful.
