Prepping some mini-lessons for this week... have some great suggestions but is there anything you'd like me to chat about? Thanks as always for your great support of ACB! We can't do it without you

Made a lot of sense to me the classic over blower.... my problem surfaces when I have to go get the top staff E, then top D ...it’s like I feel as if I need to tighten the corners and blow like crazy...I watch my teacher blow a soft top E but I can’t do it yet. This lessons is good because it supports a lessons I’ve already been given. But hearing something multiple times it begins to sink in. Plus hearing the lesson from a great player like yourself really drives the lesson home...thank you so much, Coach....you explained this lessons quite nicely.

I like the idea of going down to the partial and then doing the bend...thanks Trent!

Your video confirms something that I had noticed in my own playing, that is, that often upper range stuff speaks more easily when I'm running low on air and not trying to blow so hard. Thanks for the tip!

How does a young student go about developing a strong, clear classical tone? I've been playing for about 4 years and studying for 3 and planning on majoring in either performance or education.

That is a great question. The first step is to listen to trumpeters with great sounds A LOT! My favorite classical player is Adolf Herseth, the late principal trumpeter of the Chicago Symphony. Phil Smith, Chris Martin, Maurice Andre, et.al. Make it a project to get to know who the great players are. Listen on good equipment, not just computer speakers!!! Go to live performances of great players. Study with the best teacher in your area, someone from a local symphony, maybe. He should be teaching stuff like air support, tonguing, fluidity, flexibility, and stress listening. You should be working out of books like Clarke's Technical Studies, Arban's, Getchell, Vassily Brandt, I can't get too specific because I don't know your level of playing, but at least you are asking the right questions. I would encourage you to explore the jazz trumpet world, also.

Great info! But 😧how do I get my airstream blowing right in the middle of the mouthpiece consistently?🎺 Just like you seem to be locked in the perfect embouchure position.

Hi! Trent does a lot of the bends he demonstrates and i think he'd probably say that helps him lock in his embouchure. Here are a few vids that might help too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oamrmKOOjZKXm7M&start_radio=1&t=221 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoPGm3amhcd-hNE

Doesn't mouthpiece pressure also play a role as well. If you're using too much Mp pressure you can't bend as well either. This is something I have been struggling with. The right amount of air and mpc pressure

I know this is besides the point but what camera are you using? It's crystal clear!

It's a Panasonic Lumix with an external mic (and a very nice lens). Thanks for watching!
