I have owned 5 Cummins Rams and and probably 15 or more Dodge / Ram trucks since my first at 16. Always been a Mopar guy. Due to Ram’s failure to update their trucks I just bought a 2025 ZR2 HD Duramax. Not spending $100k on a new Megacab that is the same as my 2012 Megacab with a different grille. Yes the interior is nicer but basically same as my 2019 Longhorn Mega was. Hopefully Tim Kuniskis can change things up and maybe I will buy a new Ram in a few years

Just me, but ram should be like a kenworth w900. Minimize major appearnce changes to keep costs down. Work on reliability, increase frame and suspension strength. Maybe even try a electric steering rack with 1" tie rods for HDs to tighten up steering.

According to the almighty Google an Aisin 69RC tips the scales at 348 lbs. The ZF Powerline comes in at 328 lbs. What isn’t specified is if that includes fluids and torque converter. Given the assumption that the new 6.7 head is aluminum there’s going to be weight savings there vs. the outgoing design. Of course the weight savings there will largely be negated by the switch back to CGI. There’s only a few ways this plays out: -Ram increases GVWR, which obviously bumps payload. This also confirms what most people believe in regard to 10K GVWR being arbitrary and not a true reflection of the 2500s capabilities. -Ram surprises us with more use of aluminum or composite materials to drop curb weight. -Ram throws in the towel in regard to payload on 2500 series trucks and keeps the 10K rating. I’m with you though, outside of the upcoming powertrain changes this refresh is pretty underwhelming. It’s already a given that 2500 diesel will end up at $2-3K higher MSRP than current trucks due to the higher cost ($12K) of the single diesel option. If they try and hike prices further they’re going to have just as much of hard time moving these trucks in a year two, especially if there’s engine or trans problems.
@supporterofsanity8 күн бұрын
Not that exciting is an understatement. We are just days away from 2025 and there’s no 2025 from RAM yet. If this is the new model, it looks like they stuck a new grill on a 2024 and called it a day.

My suspicion is that the 25-26/27 are stop-gap trucks, only because I've heard from credible sources that not only did Tavares kill the HEMI, he also killed the budget for the HD conversion to the 5th-gen cab. That alone let's me know he never understood the American truck market because GM, Ford, and Ram pay the bills off of their 1/2, 3/4, and 1-ton trucks. With Tim coming back and my gut tells me that there was no way he would come back to revive thr brand if he wasn't given the tools to do so, we'll have that all new truck in the next 2-3 years. I'm actually not as offended at the lack of updates because I'm more excited that the Powerline is coming with an updated CTD. And...this at the same time that we may have less stringent rules on allowing our trucks to "breathe" easier come Jan 20th, 2025. 😊

Ram released exterior pics of some ‘25 models about a month ago. Idk if they released limited images, but from what I could see, changes were mostly in the grill. As far as the payload & gvwr goes, it’s kind of stupid (IMHO) to have 2 different frame & rear axle configurations between the 2500 & 3500. That said, the 10k gvwr is “just” a sticker. There’s plenty of room left on those coil springs for more payload than what’s on the door. My ‘17 2500 has had over 3,000 lbs in the bed & still wasn’t on the bump stops(coils only, no airbags).

Their trans have not held up and although the diesel is the same but improved is a plus for those that want diesel. I have slowly switched our fleet to gas since 2020 and the 6.4 just doesn't get the task done vs the 7.3's. I'm in my truck most of the day so comfort is where RAM kicks butt especially in their upper trims...best in the industry with GM a close second and Ford needs a lesson from the other two. Time will tell but I need to get 3 new trucks in 2026 so patiently waiting.
