Just bought this same sander used. Had to replace the brass bushings for the rollers. This video will take me to the next step of tuning my machine. Thanks for making the content. Good info. Thanks again.

Much appreciated. This is a great sander. Very reliable once it's dialed in.

hello, can i ask what you think about this tool? I wanted to buy jet, which one do you recommend?
@BandasPalette2 жыл бұрын
Hello Guiseppe. I like this sander it does work great. I would actually recommend a Grizzly sander. I have two Grizzly sanders and their quality and very durable machines. The Laguna works great, my only complaint is the feed belt, it does okay, but it could be better.

Definitely. Here is the kind I use. I use 150 grit, 180, 220. mirka-online.com/belts-discs-rolls-sheets/rolls/hook-loop-back/3-inch.html

Learned a lot from your video being the new owner of a Supermax 16-32! I’ve had it for four months and love it, until recently. I’m making an end table with a 24x28 top, red oak. When I send the panel thru (less than 1/64” bite) , half way thru it starts making a hard left turn (from operators vantage) making divots in the panel! I try to guide it thru but still doing it, but much lesser degree. Drive belt not slipping. My question is do you know what the factory set for the tension rollers would be? I was messing with those a lot and now I don’t know where I am. I contacted Laguna tech support five days ago an still waiting for help. Funny thing is yesterday I put a 24x24 plywood thru and it ran fine!

I'm surprised that the hook and loop backing doesn't interfere when you put the paper on a non hook and loop machine like the SM 19-38. I love Mirka paper and also have a 19-38. Is the Mirka paper holding up and not sliding around on the drum?
@BandasPalette4 жыл бұрын
No sliding at all. As you know, the Mirka brand is very thick and durable. I used to change so many papers when I used the grizzly or 2sand brands, and now it's lasts me a few extra sanding sessions. I think the thickness of the paper helps it stay rigid and in place.

Good video! Any idea how to adjust the feed belt. No matter the tensions of those little wrenches and having one side much tighter then the other, after run at around #3, after 10 minutes it has drifted to the inside. So I have to shut it off, loosen those wrenches, pull the sandpaper feed belt all the way up to outside, tighten those wrenches...and have to do it all again in 10 minutes. Any ideas? Thanks :)
@BandasPalette4 жыл бұрын
I think this suggestion may help. You know that nut you loosen or tighten to adjust the tension with the wrench? I would replace it with a locking nut (lock nut). Sounds like the nut is ever so slightly moving with the vibration of the machine. The lock nut has the nylon interior that I'm betting would help eliminate the movement you're experiencing. I'm sure you've watched this video, but thought it may help too. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJyriYqHoLSfjLc One thing I noticed on these sanders as I started to dig into it to dial it in, is that they used some pretty inexpensive bolts. Since then I've had to replace a few bolts and replaced then with hex bolts, those allen drive bolts are pretty crappy, and can only take a few adjustment rounds and they're done. Hope this helps my friend!

@@BandasPalette thanks brother!!! I’m gonna mark a side to see if either are loosening. It’s so frustrating. I hope this is the fix. Thanks so much for sharing that info! :)

@@enzprintco.8625 did replacing the belt fix your issue?
@fluxcapacitr1214 жыл бұрын
It looks like someone modified or replaced your conveyor belt with a narrower one. My conveyor belt is nearly the full width of the table. Either that or maybe supermax used to run a narrower belt? Just curious if that is intentional.
@BandasPalette4 жыл бұрын
I bought this from a guy that did trim and other finish capentry and was going out of business. He didn't take very good care of it, when I picked it up, he said he was running old barn wood through it, and some of the barn wood had old nails. I'm pretty sure the reason for the conveyor looking more narrow is for that reason.
@RunningCordoroy3 жыл бұрын
have you had to replace the bearings yet? I have to on mine but I'm not mechanical. The coupling confuses me.

No I haven't. But if you do record yourself doing it. This helps me to know where pieces go back into place. Sometimes from memory I forget.

Thanks for the great video! I'm in the market for a drum sander and the Super Max 16/32 is on the top of the list. Question - You mentioned you also have a Grizzly drum sander, any complaints on that machine? I'm looking forward to more of your videos, I like your no - nonsense style & complete info. way of doing it. Thanks again, I'm glad I found your channel.

Thanks a lot, sorry just saw your comment. I love the Grizzly brand drum sanders, shortly after this video I purchased brand new a 24 inch double drum Grizzly sander, they are fantastic machines, super reliable and their feeding belts are unmatched. Thanks for watching
