I recently purchased a JBC CD-2BHQF, manufactured in 2023. When I opened it up, I found it uses a switching power supply. The connections between the power supply and other circuit boards had poor soldering and residual flux. Additionally, some parts of the circuit board were blackened. I emailed JBC to report these issues, and they responded that they will strengthen their production line management.

Maybe you can take individual contacts from a breadboard and solder them at the correct pitch to make something to fit that edge connector.

I am sure it will be a common card edge connector once part number is known I will publish it to help all. I could 3d print a type of pogo pin clip but no time nor the 3d modeling skills to do it efficiently. I would Rather find the card edge connector solder a few wires and attempt the download it. And it is a 50/50 chance Targets will be read protected and a useless effort.

you should make a video on the new hakko fx 972 especially with the discontinuation of the fm-203

I am never buying another hakko product until they start supporting #righttorepair

So many companies are like that. For example Raspberry, a company freaking formed around "makers" and engineers. They think they are some kind of wizard because they built a circuit and us mere mortals couldn't possibly understand or fix their incredibly simple designs that they try to hide with their secrets. They slip in proprietary stuff too, not to make it better but to make it more difficult to repair. Don't get me started on appliances, power tools with coded batteries, firearms tools, other tools, etc. A child could build and understand most of this stuff... but they're wizards! No, they're assholes.

Power tools ohh yes I will have a video on the red company soon.

wow, I definitely need to open up mine I have the same model and replace those capacitors with some name brand .. I personally never messed around. We’re trying to dump firmware or install new firmware on the hot air station 🚉 back in the day. It was described to communicate with the computer, but never got that working .. what’s up with that barge wire That jumper ?

Which brand of soldering station do you recommend? I want to buy one and i was thinking to JBC but now....
@Rhine_Labs16 күн бұрын
@catasebi8744 depends on type of work hakko or jbc neither support right to repair. If you go with jbc inspect it fully upon recipet and hold them accountable for any workman ship issues.

Is some JBC stuff made in Spain? I’m wondering if some things like these board assemblies & the disappointing tweezers (AM120 I think) are outsourced; not made by JBC.

On the units it says Made in EU

firmware in pic mcu seems to be read protected by fuse

I would assume it is, Have you attempted the read? Some manufactures do not lock them.

Very disappointing to see a product that costs that much uses cheap components and tries to hide information so you can't fix it. There is really no excuse for them to not solder in that connector and to have flux all over the board. I guess I won't be buying JBC.

I call it my $5,800 Mistake I must Live With. I admit the thermal performance characteristics and Features are Great, But Customer Service and Build Quality is Terrible! Read about My Full Experience Here: www.stevenrhine.com/?p=131943
