We install two foot longer main rails; No intermediate connecting clamps whatsoever! No bungee; Using Full length of rails, Full throttle, full up elevators gets that sailplane on it's way up!! Love the test success flights...☝️😁👍

Thank you! At last someone gave some thought on to why do people want to look at a launch video!

I use 100 ft of surgical tubing and 200 ft. of spider wire fishing line and get launches to 150 ft high with no problem. Need a big area though. My bungee hook is a picture frame hangar hot glued slightly behind the CG to keep the nose up. Enjoy!

Great set up and explanation. I think you meant to say that there's a lot of POTENTIAL energy stored in the bungee cord. But we all understood. Cheers!

The prop must be very close to the tow rope at the start of each launch.

moochasas using a luggage scale, tension the bungee 6x the model weight

This would be great for the hard to launch flying wings, but for a glider its a bit overkill. Great video though!

Hey hello, I have a fixed wing weighting about 2kgs. The results you get in your video look very promising, however would you recommend this for a 2kg fixed wing? Or would it end up in a total failure?
@fahrvergnuugen5 жыл бұрын
It will work, you just need enough bungee strength.
@nicov.21515 жыл бұрын
you need to have 5 to 6 times the weight of your plane in bungee tention, so in your case it should be between 10 and 12 kg's
@fahrvergnuugen5 жыл бұрын
N Ver any advice on whether it’s better to double the bungee up?
@nicov.21515 жыл бұрын
i rather not double the bungee cord, as it tension time is cut in half, and with a 10 /12kg you have a enough tension on a single line. I would check the tension before launch with a fishing scale if you have the right amount of tension. if you cannot reach the amount you need, you can consider doubling the bungee line, do not knot the bungee line together but run it over a pully which is then attached to the line, then you have even tension on both sides of the bungee cord

N Ver thanks! I’m still trying to get mine to work reliably. I’m launching a strix goblin that weighs around 4.5 lbs. I bought a 10’ bungee and doubled it but it doesn’t seem to be enough. The other problem is I’m using it in the winter and the tubing loses its elasticity in the cold.

The need for a bungee launch with a powered plane is lost on me.

This glider is an easy hand chucker. A large edf with no gear on thick grass when flying ALONE totally warrants this kind of bungee. Im looking at a 90mm 6s edf falcon without landing gear (ripped off) that would definitely need bungee. Just not sure how to mount a hook on the belly.

and someone like myself who has limited feeling in there hand after a angle grinder accident.would give me more time to get on the controls, without adding excess landing gear weight?
@blackbirdxx9283 жыл бұрын
@@joefalcon870 For your situation there is probably a benefit.....got to watch them angle grinders. I have one of those old school 9in black and decker deals that weighs close to 30lbs. I run a 12in table saw blade in it to cut up old boats..i put a 2ft side handle on it....it cuts like hell but the second i pick it up my brain goes into *pay fkn attention* mode...its gets a little out of control once in while...i just make sure i keep my arms straight. I also have a weed wacker with a skill saw blade...been using both for years...the one that got me...5 in angle grinder with a cut off wheel, buddy borrowed it for like 2 min...must have set it down with the blade down...i didnt check the blade when i picked it up, the angle grinder didnt have a button it had a switch...the second i started i felt the vibration and i just threw it...blade came apart just as it was leaving...1/3 of the blade stuck me in the thigh...at least in inch deep....feel for ya not having full use of both hands....i barely get by when both of mine work properly

A catapult to launch a glider !!! seriously?
@Pijawek6 жыл бұрын
Overkill in this case, but it's a very usefull tool for large flying wings. They are a real pain in the arse to launch - either you throw them above your head risking prop in the face or sideways risking smashing them in the ground. This is a great alternative!
@upperechelon3456 Жыл бұрын
These launchers are a godsend when it comes to launching my Talons and large wings. It also comes in handy for launching my 3M gliders which are to heavy and unwieldy for my 65 year old arms to throw. 😄
