that variable neutral density filter idea was brilliant, I have a wedding to shoot in a few hours outside in full sun. I paused your video, pulled out my VND filter, I tried your idea, said out loud "son of a Bi##h!" that works great! Thanks!

Thanks for the video! :) That is the most common problem at weddings. "Hey, mr. photographer, we want our couple photos right after the wedding lunch. We will be tired at the evening." Communication is the most important. People don't even know that sunlight is the worst light for portraits.
@jbivphotography2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Obviously there's give and take on a wedding day but the cupple really needs to understand that you know what you're doing and you're getting the best results for them.

Omg! Righhhtt! I wish they would understand this.

You should meet the equinox sun with a noon Kenyan wedding
@horiabodeanu76412 жыл бұрын
if you cant shoot in the shade and ur forced in direct sunlight: use a speedlight with a diffuser directly at them so the shadows cast on their face will be softer. It's still bad but better than heavy dark shadows!
@papsny2 жыл бұрын
Exactly, but i bet 80% of people here do not even know or use flash
@horiabodeanu76412 жыл бұрын
@@papsny they all hide behind the "i use natural light" courtain 😁. Can't judge them but speedlight is elementary if you want to deliver in an event.
@mina.kuskaya Жыл бұрын
Thank you for this advice! I will try this next time. I had so many weddings at noon and I am frustrated with the outcome :/

Great idea. I’ve got a speedlight but I never thought about using it outdoors in full sun. I have a small wedding this weekend. Outdoors. Full sun. At noon. Yikes.

Use the sun as a hairlight.. flash the front or use something to reflect light to the front...

Really cool video, ejoyed that. I think backlit portraits are great as well. The lens quality in that situation is important, but if it works it can look magical. Could you please make a video about dealing with difficult clients?

Having backlit HDR on a camera, and in Photoshop, knowing how to use Shadows/Highlights command, then judicious use of Equalize and a couple other things takes care of most such sunlight problems at most occasions. Split-level ND? I've long used that for sunsets. Photoshop works better the more pixels you give it to work with.
