I own a pair of the new L100 classic black edition speakers as well as a pair of 1980 L100a speakers. The older L100a speakers are efficient and sound great with my Fisher 202b tube integrated amplifier and my McIntosh MC225 amplifier. I’m not sure how I feel about the new L100s. My perception is that they need solid state amplification because they are 4 ohm speakers. Harmon shows them with Mark Levinson power amplifiers at their NYC store. I’ll try a McIntosh MC462 or Pass Labs 250.8 next. Like all good equipment, matching with the right components is important.

How about low frequency response? Is it enough to listen music without additional subwoofer?

From where did you get these stands?

Nice. I have mine on a very similar pair of stands that I built out of Baltic birch plywood with casters. It’s nice to be able to move them about. I think these speakers are sensitive to the distance they are from the rear wall - want more bass, try about 17”from the back to the wall. If you want a tighter sound with less bass, pull them out so that the back is about 20” from the rear wall.

Why do Amplifier Manufacturers dictate their amps perform best when piled on or nearest the ground between the loudspeakers? I've worked hard all my life & I will only buy an amplifier that can be positioned waist high or higher. Does Jack-Fi have any of this type to offer?
@Cimone907 ай бұрын
They don't. It's just a trend in hifi these days to put the amps on the floor between the speakers. You can just as easily put them on a stand. Just try to keep them behind the front of the speakers so that they have room to form a soundstage
@stevet74872 ай бұрын
I agree. I want my units waist high or above.

Are you sure that this is MKII - even if it’s not written on the box or on the sign at the speaker?
@jpnielsen97184 ай бұрын
Yeah I wondered that too? But the "binding posts" are MKII for sure.
@MuscleBN3 ай бұрын
Classic blk edition has some of the mark 2 improvements as in upgraded woofer and dual.binding posts..not sure if the crossover is up to the mark2level though.

Something a bit uncontrolled in the highs and not quite intergrating with the mids or the bass.

@giovannigiannis56703 ай бұрын
Gorgeous. But are these MK2 though? The labeling doesn’t seem to indicate that. Also, there is a different Special 75th Edition that is all wooded veneer, but I think that one is also not MK2. Please let me know. Thanks!

That is l100 classic black edition Not L100 mk2 classic
@giovannigiannis56703 ай бұрын
I came here to ask about that. I don’t see any indication of MK2. Do you know if MK2 also has any special editions? The JBL website is comically bad and Google searches keep showing me MK1.
