Fantastic comparison. I have both of the monitors sitting "side by side" in my recording studio. To see how the JBL's are even able to compete with the KRK's is an amazing feet considering that they are so much smaller for compact, portable carry use. On another occasion, also compared the JBL's to the iLOUD's micro and while the iLOUD's are definitely a much more compact monitor...sound quality is very minimal considering three (3) times the price in my opinion. The bass response from the JBL's is of course, going to be different, thinner, but they certainly make up for it in the mids + high levels. They truly are remarkably... transparent. Very cool. Remember optimum arm length triangulation with these monitors in recording playback for that sweet spot. All said and done, the JBL's are a great pair of portable monitors for the budget especially if you are looking for straight, portable reference monitors in voice over/ singing applications. Highly, highly recommend both the JBL 104 and KRK ROKIT 5. Gosh just realized...sounds like an Amazon review. Sorry. Hope it's useful info all the same (smile)

I'm considering either the JBL 104 for $79 or the iLoud Micro Monitors for $299. The price difference is huge so I'm leaning towards the 104s but I'm worried about the bass.

@@ThePCForever As mentioned, l do have both along with the iLoud monitors, a recent purchase due to its travel size. The JBL 104'S are compact and have bass response on par with my KRKs as well . However, you seriously are not going to miss out on bass response unless you are doing multi instrument recordings. My primary go to monitors are the JBL 104s while in studio. They don’t fill my studio space like the KRK’s for a loud jam session playbacks, but they are spectacular for “up close” overall VO recordings and daily use. Voice over and singing...they just shine very bright. If you are thinking about the JBL’s, dive in reassured. You won’t regret your purchase along with the performance and a real appreciation for their monetary value. BTW: If you can live without a Bluetooth connection on the JBL’s, stick with the originals vs the updated model. For $80.00 dollars, an incredible product and performance value.

@@ernestthompson891 Thanks for the recommendation! The only reason I'm worried about bass is because there is a massive difference in low-end between the 104s and the Micros based on this video. The Micro Monitors seem to have much more bass just by listening to this recording. It surprises me that you own both and still prefer the 104s though. Since I'd assume if you had the more expensive Micros then you wouldn't find any use for the 104s. Anyways, I've just ordered a pair of 104s, for $79 (down from $149) they seem like an amazing deal!

@@ThePCForever l was in the same place as yourself CS in originally trying to fit things in budget. Started redoing my home studio with higher end equipment and l believed the monitor upgrade purchase would make a “HUGE” difference. After all was said and done...Nah. JBL’s are used extensively and daily with just about everything from general use to recording performance in my studio. All the monitors have their different performance jobs to do at times. But, daily use is with the JBL 104’s. And yes as you stated, a truly amazing deal indeed. You are going to enjoy them.

People are saying the KRK are better but the only thing I can hear that's better on the KRK is the bottom end ( as it should be they are much bigger ) but vocally and general music detail the JBL are as good if not slightly better !

Theyre not flatter. JBLs are known for their mids being scooped and a little boosted on highs which gives you that 'V' sound. They are far from reference imho.

Hi I have a question Buy two KRK G4 7 monitors and when it turns on it emits a white background sound "Hissing ssssss" without any connection this wave sound is heard up to 1.50 meters. Unlike KRK G3 monitors, there is no such white noise. Do I need help and do I know if this whistle is normal? Thanks for your reply

JBL = HQ smartphone speakers not what someone who is looking for nearfield monitor speakers wants for sure
@joshsmith7812
@joshsmith7812 5 жыл бұрын
Mate these monitors are tiny😂 it's an unfair comparison, this is JBLs cheapest monitor. Not what someone wants for a nearfield monitor? You sure about that? JBL makes super high end studio monitors that cost over 20k a pair, id say the JBL LSR series is on par with the G4's, the series after that though blows krk out of the water.
