I have the Studio 290s, 235c and the 250p subwoofer. As a semi-professional musician(percussionist) I find my system to be very accurate and true to my musical ears. They also double up to make an awesome home theater. I've been rockin JBL speakers almost 25 years now and they always please! You can't go wrong at any price point with JBL. You can spend more and you can find some that sound better. But across the board it's hard to find a a more consistent brand. JBL are still used in more than half the movie theaters, arenas and other venues around the world. With that kind of reputation I think that about says it all!

I really don´t understand the product bashing. I bought the the Studio 290 and the other stuff from the studio 2 series like 235C center, 230 rear and 260P subwoofer. The loudspeakers are connected to an ONKYO RZ900. The Studio 290 are working in bi-wire/bi-amplification mode. I used before the the JBL ES Series. I heard before I bought the studio 2 series loudspeakers from HECO and Canton. The last two brands are famous brands in Germany. But the JBL studio 2 series sounds best in comparison to the other loudspeakers brands in the price range. I am really happy with the studio 2 series. The studio 2 series is in comparison to the JBL ES series more forceful and more palpable. Also it can be heard more niceties. I startet in 80´s with the JBL TLX series then I switched to Infinity Kappa 8.2 series and then to JBL ES series and now I am listening with JBL studio 2 series. In my opinion the studio 2 series is the best sounding loudspeaker series in its price range. I had never problems with JBL product quality. The loudspeakers working since many years perfect. I expect the same from the studio 2 series. And if a loudspeaker chassis is not build with die casting or the crossover is equipped with electrolyte capacitors with 85°C temperature versions instead of a 105° C temperature version it makes no difference regarding lifetime and sound quality in a loudspeaker. In my opinion it can be given a clear buy recommendation for the studio 2 series, and by the way the studio 2 series looks quite good in comparison to the previous JBL ES series.

Just received my studio 290s with 225c and 260p sub. Powered by a yamaha tsr-7810. I purchased everything including receiver and wiring for $1,200 US. The speakers were certified refurbished directly from JBL. However they look brand new. I can not believe the value and sound quality for this setup. I am truly impressed. I just need to purchase rears for a true surround sound. I don't get why they get so much hate either.

I believe it sounds good for you when you dont know any better. The fact that it sounds better then HECO or Canton means nothing as both of them nowadays produce Chinese crap too. HECO used to produce quality stuff made in Germany, but it was bought by American company VOXX who also owns brands like Jamo or Klipsh and they moved all the production to China, so it is basically just a brand name that they slap on crap to make it sell more. The same stuff applies to Canton. Just a name slapped on Chinese crap to make it sell better.

I can't understand the negative replies to this video. Yes, these are not high end components. But these speaker perform great. They sound much more refined than older JBL entry speakers (LX-series, for example). They work great for music and movies. It brings is with authority, yet refined. The bass is tight and plentiful. The low end fills up an average (European) living room with ease. The high frequencies are consistent over the room and do not fatigue. Very pleasant sound stage. The speakers are a bit shy in the mid-range for classical music, but that's the only flaw I hear. And I really like how they look. I own these. I paid 200 Euro (=230 USD) a piece. New. Please tell me where I can buy a set of NEW floorstanding speakers with solid wood cabinets and metal speaker rings for 400 Euro that perform just as well. :D

Wonderful video! I like how you saved the made-in-China part, for the last view. I'm sure they sound okay. I have a set of JBL LX600, and guess what? Even though they are made in the USA, the build quality isn't much better. Same cheap particle board, laminated in black-grained plastic, the bottom peeled off over the years. The drivers - outsourced from France - have surprisingly small magnets, given the speakers' power rating. The driver connecting wires are a flimsy light gauge, which is funny because people probably go out and buy heavy gauge speaker wire going to the amp, thinking, this is "JBL" - right? The made-in-the-USA crossover board looks almost identical to the made-in-China board you show here. When the cheap foam surround on the woofer gave out, instead of re-foaming it, I replaced the lightweight driver with a real woofer (different brand), with a robust heavy-duty magnet. Sounds great. Listening to them now, in fact. If you want to look inside a real hi-fi speaker system, would love to see you take down an ADS 710 or 810. Built like a tank, and the sound, with dome midrange as well as dome tweeter, is breathtaking. It's on an entirely different level.

woofer seems Looks like Sony 6 Ohms ,old model, Hybrith Dual Woofer Compoment Speaker, but the Cones looks like a cheaper anf ordinary, Compare to Polypropelyn plastics materials of Sony woofer caps,tweeter seems so small and low quality that easily to breaks ,but thats a good soundQuality of Soft Dolby Base Surround

strange how jbl has lowered their standards so much i'm sure people would pay for an expensive jbl speaker. I have jbl l15 speakers, the cheapest that jbl had to offer in 1981 and those costed more than what these cost if you adjust for inflation. They do still remake their classic speakers like the l100 but it would be nice to see new designs from them with the excellent build quality they used to have with real wood veneer and made in America. It feels like they just use what's left of the reputation of jbl to market their cheap home and portable speakers.
@noco-pf3vj6 жыл бұрын
JBL now own by Samsung. portable speakers now is their main priority it seem.
@BrasspineappleProductions4 жыл бұрын
They may be cheap, but you could easily upgrade all the components and chamber the Drivers to create more efficient sound. Or get rid of the bottom driver and find a decent 6.5 inch sub driver that will get down to 30-35hz and chamber that into a small ported system with pvc piping inside. Use the other driver crossed at 500hz-2,500hz Keep the midrange and upgrade a better crossover 2,500hz-10,000hz Replace that filling with foam inside. And scrap that tweeter for something like a real horn tweeter. The cabinets are good, and input terminals are good.
@droidzhunterz68613 жыл бұрын
I think i might try that. I have the larger 290 with dual 8", 3" midrange and same shitty tweeter, in a fake horn waveguide

I too am still waiting to find out what it is. It sounds great on my huge 70 pound speakers that each have one 12" woofer, 2 mid-range, and 4 tweeters.

No bracing. Flimsy cabinet. No added mass to internal cabinet walls. No silicon gaskets. Low quality X over, full of elektrolitics, and by pass . A 20 euro solution, but JBL thinks about a cent of profit!!!! Real JBL costs 20.000 apiece
@Boorock706 жыл бұрын
Yep, you are %100 right ! That crossover is a $15-20 and the worst quality with electrolytic capacitors... they didn't even use any MKT caps :) (and I'm not even mentioning MKP caps) That inductor coil is a joke... No need to comment on the drivers, pathetic !
