High pass filter, lol wtf you have no idea This "LFM" mode disables DSP processing completely. And since there is no DSP, the drivers get to play the full range of frequencies, even 1hz tones. At 60% volume, 35hz actually sounds amazing with DSP off. But turn it higher and you'll notice distortion, since the small drivers aren't capable of putting out this much bass.

Just stumbled upon your decent review of the Extreme 2 by JBl. I watched dozens of videos before finally settling on this, a black colored version as opposed to your red one which I use in my kitchen. I already have the Marshall Stanmore speaker mark i. I Did not want another, but something with more bass... I checked out and bought the Bose 300 sound link, the Denon home 350 speaker and the Flip 4 by JBL. Tested them all within a weekend. Was not impressed... I realized something was missing in all of them. Bass! What I realized as well is that not all speakers are for all types pf music, but you can do something to enhance your listening pleasure if you invest in or download for free, a graphic equalizer, which I did before I already had the Marshall speaker in 2017 with real bass and treble controls onboard. Although the sound is clearer on the Marshall, I took the other three speakers back to the store and went for the Extreme 2. Why? Because it is designed for bass where as the others are not. Sure they have bass, but do not handle lower frequencies as well without losing their mids or highs. Bose and Denon sound great without a doubt, but cannot go deep enough without losing the highs and midrange. If guitar ( Rock, classical, Spanish, acoustic, etc ) is what you want, the Marshall Stanmore is excellent for those genres. But if bass orientated music such as all forms of EDM, Hip Hop, Reggae and Soul music is your thing, I highly recommend the Extreme 2. What I use is an updated Apple iPod, an iPhone and a Fiio latest generation mp3 player with music recorded using FLAC files to enhance the sound on the Extreme 2 speaker as well as on my Stanmore. It really does make a difference. And as someone mentioned, if you place the speaker in a corner or even at a certain distance your listening experience will be better. Shop staff whack up the volume, customer gets impressed, then goes home and does not appreciate the sound from the speaker unless the conditions are right... If you are particular, of course! Of course if you just want volume and lots of bass this is one ideal choice. If you want to enhance that volume with quality, you can, pay more for something else. I enjoyed your testing of the low frequencies. Many videos don’t do that. Volume is not everything. You demonstrated that in certain terms. 👍🏼

crised well that's a better explanation than saying "it is turned on by default sometimes" (which is wrong of course) All i wanted to say is this: "LFM" actually disabled all signal processing from the speaker, which means that audio signal will only be amplified without any adjustment (i.e. band pass filters, artificial amplification, ...) @@tkermi i was looking to buy that lol. I currently have an srs-xb10 and I was really surprised for 50 bucks! I want a bigger speaker tho.
@tkermi4 жыл бұрын
@@Pantosoft Oh, nice to hear that SRS-XB10 has worked great for you! I haven't tested that myself. I would say that SRS-XB31 is not a bad speaker. But to get it perform I needed to use a lot of EQ in the app. Even after that it didn't quite have as fast and good bass control, high resolution mids or clear highs than JBL Flip 4 (I had them two days side by side). The output level capability was about the same. SRS-XB31 just didn't sound as "live like" as Flip 4. Of course observed sound quality is a matter of taste thing. But I'm actually HiFi / high end audio professional designer (have been 15 years). And I have also been retailing many, many audio products, so I have pretty decent base for making comparisons. Still this is only my opinion and other people could have a different taste - that's okay 😊. P.S. I was actually quite impressed how good sound you could get with the Flip 4 (I haven't listened the newer version). I preferred its sound compared to the next larger JBL speaker (which was noticeably louder and went somewhat deeper but was not as clear or punchy). I typically work with systems costing 100x - 5000x more.

My stoner mind lfm is real ... of course it doesn't state it on the Manuel because jbl doesn't want you to damage your speaker. Don't use lfm ... but if you really want to ... hold volume down and bluetooth for 10 seconds . I'm just trying to prove LFM is real

its a service mode for testing, for JBL only. It disables DSP and can damage the speaker badly. Don't ever use it, it doesn't change the sound in any positive way it just allows the amp to produce frequencies it normally shouldn't because it WILL damage the amp or the drivers
