JBL Xtreme 4 vs Bose Soundlink Max

Have you noticed any distortion from the Bose when listening at higher volume levels? Specifically when playing more bass heavy tracks? I’ve heard some complaints online of people complaining that their Soundlink Max was distorting pretty badly above 70/80% volume. I did also notice a few more recent comments from people saying that since updating to the latest firmware version, the distortion issues have now been resolved. Just curious to know if you’ve had any issues?

No distortion, but maybe that's because I did the update as soon as I turned it on, and I like the treble mode. I'll test the bass mode and see how it sounds. Usually, I find sound weird after 70% on all portable speakers.

You’re absolutely right, most portable speakers do have a tendency to become pretty harsh and cluttered sounding when you really start to push them. Some limit their bass at max volume to avoid distortion which I appreciate, while others don’t and end up distorting like crazy which isn’t great. Nice to know you haven’t experienced this with the Bose, hopefully that means the distortion issues people were complaining about previously have indeed been resolved with the recent firmware update.🤞🏼
