I feel the same way with simple man. I feel the Deftones version is better than the Lynyrd Skynyrd. Same thing with the alien ant farm MJ. Let them take this bad boy. And then you have the Nice nails Johnny Cash hurt. There's a lot of really good covers.

This song was pure homage. They loved MJ and MJ loved this. Around this time a lot of rock fans that possibly never knew of MJ would of discovered his music too. The original Smooth Criminal had beats and a groove that lent itself to rock music too. MJ the genius again

Yup. Ever since Beat It, MJ incorporated a lot of rock elements into his songs and shows. Heck, even hired Jennifer Batten, to play the rock guitar parts.

MJ loved this Tribute Cover by AAF so much that when he died his family asked AAF to play at his memorial... the Tribute covers several videos he made, not just Smooth Criminal, but a handful of others... there are also items that pay tribute to him like the kid doing his dance moves, the drummer with only one gloved hand, the gloved hand he is sitting in and of course the chimpanzee.
