You're just a little off target in your song description. These songs were part of a hit musical play called Hair, which was about a man who joined a tribe of hippies who indoctrinated him to the world of free love, flower power, peace and drugs. The play was notorious because of a scene in which all of the actors were dancing nude on the stage. It was made into a film starring the late, great Treat Williams. The 5th Dimension recorded these two songs from Hair and they became a major hit for them. Originally sung? No.
