We put the JCB Teleskid 3TS-8T to work by using it to clean manure out of the pole shed!
Our initial thoughts are positive on the machine, we'll dive more into specifics about the machine in coming weeks as we get more experience with it!

How Farms Work by Ryan Kuster is a KZbin channel based in rural Potosi, Wisconsin.
Our mission is to teach those who didn't grow up on a farm what the farming life is like.
These videos show the Kuster family working together raising cattle and crops. We believe everyone who wants to know more about farming should be able to share the farming experience with us and we look to educate the world on many essential agriculture topics.
How Farms Work takes place on ~1,100 acres with around 75-200 cattle at any given time. Four John Deere tractors are currently used on the farm, which are a 4020, 4640, 7600, and 8235R.

I bought a 2016 JCB 280 wheeled machine and now have over 1500 hours on it. I love the side door and the visibility. I also have an Arts-Way bedding spreader on it to shred round bales of corn stalks for bedding. They make a great pair! The JCB has been trouble free and handled -30 weather this past winter with no problems. The only issue I have is the controls are a bit jumpy and even after having the dealer reprogram them, they could still use a little more fine tuning. Slightly stiffer springs in the controls would also go a long way to helping keep the machine from getting jumpy when the machine bounces. I'm hoping to get a track machine sometime down the road.

It’s fun watching new operators. They can only do one thing at once. Can’t dump and move. Or release grapple and dump. It’s one thing at a time. Practice makes perfect.

Like the side entry, Much safer and easier. A article in a paper a few years ago stated that over 75% of accidents/injuries involving skid loaders had to do with getting on and off. We bought our first in 1970.

Hey Ryan! Many times it's the tool that makes all the difference. If a guy has the right tool(s) (JCB Teleskid 3TS-8T), the work is SO much easier and a fellow can do more in less time with 1/2 the effort. Nice machine...now to justify the co$t. That JCB looks awesome. Really like the side door and one of the reasons I never bought a skid steer is not being safe to get out with the bucket elevated. The other reasons being no 3 pt hitch, pto, can't handle deep mud, and have to haul between farms made loader tractors more economically sensible for my operation. The teleboom on that one makes it an extraordinary machine. IMO

Ryan- do you just push and stack the poop until spring? Seems like you had 4 feet inside. I'm guessing it is also bedding not just poop.
@TheMadOneofSB
@TheMadOneofSB 5 жыл бұрын
I'm not Ryan, but I'll answer anyway. It's called "Pen-Pack", or "Bedding-Pack". It's a lot of cornstalk bedding mixed with manure, maybe half a rotten bale buried in there somewhere. It's the result of wintering in pens. Stuff can be a bear to spread. The manure acts to glue everything together.

Boy! that was a workout for the JCB. Also for the Kusters. I never gave it much thought that was the way beef is still produced. Within 15 miles of my farms there are not that many workers keeping the pens tidy for over 1/4 million head. No wonder the feeding industry left the corn belt for the High Plains from Lubbock to Denver.

The tracks do seem to make the ride a bit rougher (just from the shakiness of some of the in-cab shots) but other than that it looks like a beauty. I was always a bit skeptical of skid steers that just had the one boom down one side of the machine rather than a boom on either side but seeing it in action is rather comforting. Also nice that you can actually enter it from the side rather than having to climb in the front like a traditional skid steer. That's a big plus for someone like me (6'1") who doesn't maneuver in and out of tight spaces very well; it's a lot easier to enter it just like a normal vehicle rather than climbing over a bucket or other attachment and then trying to turn around and slip into the seat without whacking my head on something. The telescopic boom on it seems like it would be really useful in a lot of situations and gives me a whole new respect for these less traditional skid steers.

I’ve had 2 skid steers. A T33 Thomas very small model only 3 ft wide. Then bought a new holland L150. Nice machine. One thing you have to watch is traveling and stopping quickly with a heavy load. It’s just common sense because you can flip them. That JCB looks pretty stable on those tracks but with that boom out I’d be careful. Nice to have the use of it to try it out. What’s it worth. You should buy one up in Canada your dollar has 25-30% more buying power.

I begged my old boss to look at the Teleskid - Here is why - safety, your not stepping over hyd. lines ! No climbing on slippery components and hurting yourself ! The entry is as easy as getting into a car. Also when the time comes don't trash the tracks. When using the grapple I would take a old set of tracks and turn them on it's side and grab it with the grapple facing down. I could back drag and smooth any surface. It was easier than grabbing a bucket (even with a quick disconnect) . Enjoy watching and who is running the drone ? - great video's

Hey Ryan, Thanks for the run down on the JCB, looking forward to your final comments on the Machine! I'm very interested in how they perform with a 4 in 1 bucket, etc, as there doesn't seem to be very many examples of this that I've been able to find to date. it seems to handle the Grapple OK?! I'm on 100 acres in the Northern Rivers area, New South Wales, Australia & I am looking very seriously at the JCB or Kubota Track loaders to clear my land of a lot of lantana & set it up for cattle etc.... The other main concern is back up service, but that's something which comes after the fact & JCB is an unknown in my part of the world? Keep up the good work! Cheers Aussie Steve :)
