I've had the exact opposite experience with JCB. I have 5 JCB machines, including two 3TS-8Ts. The only thing I would trade the teleskids for are 100hp teleskids. That said, my dealer is fantastic and that makes a huge difference. Sounds like your dealer is the primary reason for the bad experience, and that sucks.

I worked for a manufacturer of industrial gas turbines. I had quite a few customers tell me that our engines weren't any better than our competitors. The reason they bought from us was the customer service. We have field districts worldwide and although I can only speak about ours in Salt Lake, we would "no charge" them for a service call quite often unless they were negligent. Actually, we sometimes "no charged" them when they were negligent because they realized they screwed up and we didn't put the screws to them. We also always answered the phone. When I commissioned a unit, the customer had my cell phone number and they would often just call me to see if I could help them over the phone instead of contacting the field office for a service call. And hey, look at that, they just ordered our equipment for their next expansion. When customers are spending millions of dollars on the purchase your your equipment, you want to keep them happy. Sure, there were times when a customer was belligerent and when reason didn't work, we treated them accordingly. (No turbines for you! One year. No turbines!) Customer service is the best advertisement. Good or bad.

I wont lie, seeing a person like you, with good business acumen and who has been in the industry for a while, struggle is a bit of a comfort. For one it gives me hope that there are still people out there who stand by their products and want to do right by their customers and for two I feel a bit less alone with my own struggles. I've returned two pieces of equipment so far and I'm stuck with one that I wish I hadn't picked up at all and gone to another brand. I worked in IT for years before getting into machinery related work and it's crazy how much it's a disorganized industry. No standards, lack of knowledge on their own machines, approximate details on attachment compatibility (GPMs reqs etc) and nonchalant attitude in getting things fixed right. That being said, I hope you figure out a good way out of it!

Just looked up that wheel loader. What I found was a 7,000 lb tipping load, but that is a load in the bucket with a load of maybe 2' from the loader arms at most. No way that thing is going to lift 6,000 lbs at a 4' out center of gravity (8' long skid). It sounds like you weren't having a problem tipping though, sounds like the hydraulics just wouldn't lift it. Another thing to consider is these things are mainly designed for bucket use. The geometry is way different with a set of forks, especially picking a 8' long skid. You'd be better off with a telehandler for that task.

I know you're frustrated, but it says right in the JCB specs that the 407 loader is rated for a payload of only 3666 pounds. Even the larger 409 is only 4021 pounds. With an 8 foot length of pallet, 5 or 6000 pounds is totally unreasonable. That is a small machine. If it could lift it, I'm sure the back wheels would be off the ground. I think you would have been much better off with a used machine that is much larger. If JCB told you it would do the job, they were clearly wrong by their own specs.

That’s a shame. The JCB dealer you bought them off should of given you a working demo and you could of put it through its paces before committing to the purchase. They should of struck up an agreement with the original dealer you went to, perhaps transferring them in conjunction with the factory in Savanah Ga. Looks as if they are having dealership issues, and I have heard quite a few complaints about poor back up. JCB need to address this situation.

@GoodWorksTractors My first ever skid loader was a 333G. It's a beast of a machine. For some reason I got it in my head that I wanted something a little smaller, which at the time we were doing some things at our customer's homes and a smaller frame size would have been nice. So, I traded my 333G for a Cat 259D3. Huge mistake. Cat had no power compared to my 333G. 3 months later I am trying to get another 333G, but no one around me seems to have them. I ended up going with the 3TS-8T, even after I saw your video on how you were potentially regretting your 3T purchase. Is your 3T a 2022 model? I know according to my sales rep, lots of improvements in the 2023 models. For the machines weight, I gotta say it feels much more nimble on it's feet than my 333G felt. I'm sorry to hear all the trouble you've had with JCB. So far I have been very impressed with the quality of JCB. A couple of things to point out. It sounds like maybe you have an electrical malfunction on that boom arm. You had mentioned in one of your videos that the machine bogged down while going up even the slightest of hills. I live on a hill, a decently steep one at that. My driveway is 1/2 mile long and at the end of it I have to go uphill to get to my home and shop. In 2nd gear my machine goes up it pretty easily. You can tell you're going up a hill, but you could tell that in my 333G as well; my 3T does not bog down in the slightest going up hill. It sounds like you might have some electrical issue in your 3T preventing full power to the machine. One last comment I'll make, you were wanting to lift 5K with your 407 Wheel Loader. If you look at the spec sheet, it's only rated for a payload of 3,666lbs. That's no excuse for the dealer to not fit you in the right machine, so that's unfortunate, I don't think that is JCB's fault. There is no excuse for no visual site indicator on the quick connect system, that is just poor engineering and design. If you'd like to ask me about my 3TS-8T machine I'd be more than happy to talk with you. One more thing. If your dealer is a National JCB dealer, they should not be charging you trip charges. JCB if you are the original owner of the machine will cover all those costs. You shouldn't be charged anything to get a JCB certified technician out to your home. Sounds like you have some bad dealers in your area. Anyway, I'd love to chat with you regarding the machines. Maybe I can lend some more insight.

We bought a JCB 270T in 2020. had the exact same AC issue you have and they never figured it out either. But the service department was quick to point the finger at us for not cleaning the filters. You could do a complete service on the machine and when running hi-flow for about 30 minutes, it was like you flipped a switch and turned off the air conditioner. It would cool running standard flow but after a couple hours it would stop cooling. Also a few weeks prior to the warranty going out, we took it in with a whining noise. Turns out the hydraulic pump went out and sent metal throughout the system. Had to replace the pump and drive motors. Luckily this repair was under warranty. We sold it shortly after this (1200 hours) and bought a Cat299. This machine and the service and warranty have us asking why we ever bought something other than a CAT in the first place.

We have a 505-20TC telehandler, and we've never had any complaints about the power of the machine. We use it pretty heavily every day in a compost operation, it shifts the weight and has great maneuverability. *But* we've had multiple hydraulic issues with it. Leaky/cracked fittings, burst hoses, leaking pressure reliefs, blown accumulators, failed electro-valves and several limp mode engine events and constant complaints from the ECU about low temperatures during winter - duh! It's COLD, we let it warm up before we do any work with it, but it yells at us like it's about to explode every time we start it on a cold day- extremely annoying. Our dealer is meh, not the worst, but they seem to always be busy doing field repairs *cough-reliablemuch-cough* and often can't fit us in in a timely manner. As a result we've learned just how much of a PITA a compact telehandler is to service. There's not a wasted cubic inch of space on that machine, which is great for packaging and a nightmare to get tools and parts into. The machine is very good at the job we need it to do... As long as it's working and not leaking fluids at high rates. It may in fact be the least reliable machine we have on the premesis, but it does work that would require a compact wheel loader, a skidsteer and a forklift to replace... So.. 🤷

Hello, unfortunately I can only agree with you. I am from Austria and bought a mini telescopic loader about 10 years ago. especially for agriculture. They call this line "agri", the problem was that it overheated after a few meters on the road in the summer. jcb forgot to install the air conditioning so someone from England came and retrofitted it. Every 200 hours the oil seal on the front cardan shaft was defective and much more. We decided to swap but no one wanted to buy this vehicle used. The JCB dealer assured me that the next larger model would not cause any problems. He gave me more money for the old JCB than anyone else, so I decided to risk it again. The new one is called 525-60 (€80k) hmmm.... the technician from JCB drove up on this machine for the first 20 hours. I picked up the device and after 2km it was hot too! Then 20 hours later they throttled it down, new software and the heat is okay. ok what the heck... fall we want to load crap and the next problem.... when the telescopic arm is raised relatively high up, it can't tip out far enough to unload a shovel... maximum just more is not possible... great job JCB!

I was looking at used backhoes and found some JCB's I was interested in, but am so glad I didn't get them. Being older models they would have a few things wrong and every time I would try to find parts it was near impossible so never went through. I ended up taking delivery of a TYM T474 last week. My dealer was only 3 miles away and was great.

Hey bud. Hate you have had such a bad experience on these machines. We have always enjoyed your channel and the wealth of information you provide so just keep them coming. On the equipment It is possible the teletrack/steer/frankensteer/track has a short in the connection at the solenoid where the fluid is released. I have seen this same thing on multiple machines but more so on machines that have leaks. Typically the connections are moisture resistant but really they are not completely. If one was to locate the solenoids at the fluid dispersion you typically can see right away by evidence of the actual connection being moist. In the grand scheme of things raising the teleboom isn’t a big deal and simply disconnecting the hydraulic lines for that cylinder will let you raise and lower the boom with little fanfare, at this point you could tilt the cab to access the hydraulics. If it were in my shop that is exactly what I would do first. Hope this helps and thanks for another great vid, stay warm, in the 40’s here in North Ga Ric Also typically the connection will cause a short between the 2 poles within the connection point. Simply cleaning them with electronic contact cleaner and installing dielectric grease will prevent it from shorting again. It is that simple. Once cleaned and dried , grease with dielectric reattach and back to work, it could be many other things but typically this is the most likely culprit if all other functions work. Voltage drops if it is spread through a larger plane rather than an intended, add more area then there is less to measure.

Its maddening that they wont work with you. Also, the lift capacity with the 407 is 3,666 lbs. 6k is a little over 1.64x the lift capacity of that machine. The salesman was negligent in not knowing the specs of the machines he sells. But, you should have checked the spec sheet yourself. Not everyone is as honest as you are. I believe you always put your best foot forward and that you legitimately try your best to do what's right for your customer. Whereas you would check if the machine was capable of the work, the customer says he needs to get done and then move accordingly. But, again, not everyone is you. So, it's incumbent upon you to verify what you're being told. It's a learning curve, and you've come a long way. But, like that dump trailer, you didn’t check the specs before you loaded it well over its capabilities. These are thungs you need to verify yourself before you pull the trigger. I think you're a good dude. And you've come a long way. But learning should be a never-ending process.

I have the exact same JCB Tekeskid and this shook me . Your dealer should be trying harder to make this right. Escalate to JCB if not! We do residential construction and the specific reason i bought the JCB is that it max lift height corresponds perfectly with the roof heights of our builds. The mecalac 6mcr was just a little too short, though sometimes i wish i bought that machine. My only real gripe with the JCB is that the controls are incredibly sensitive and not in a good way. There is a big dead band on the boom control before anything starts moving, and then it can be really fast/jerky. Makes things like running a jib boom attachment and setting trusses frustrating and fiddly. They even have a "dead band reduction" setting but I haven't found this to have a noteable effect. If anyone knows more about it , help!😅 Hope they can get your boom moving and you can rent these machines to a break even. Great video!

WOW!! Two bad pieces of brand new equipment!! Sorry that you're having these issues. Haven't had any recent experiences with JCB. About 30 years ago, worked with a contractor who bought JCB TLBs due to their lower price points. Would put them on jobs where they needed a tractor-loader-backhoe but not on a continuous basis. Operators didn't like them as much as John Deere or Case but their limited use/lower price point made sense. I liked the teleskid concept but didn't realize it was that underpowered as a 25 HP difference is huge between 75 HP and 100 HP. Thanks always for the great videos!!

It had these funky, worthless outriggers and was a total piece of crap. He also had this JCB mobile crane-cherry picker thing. It looked like a turned-around farm tractor with a boom attached and the same funky outriggers. Despite all the counterweights, it would upset very easily. I don't think they still make them. In my experience, field techs arent what the use to be. The guys that know what they're doing aren't leaving the shop... so I would suggest doing whatever it takes to get the units back to their shop every time you have an issue.

(That is alarming to me) No other brands seem to be able to get anything and here is this dealer full of them. I decided to take a chance with New Holland because I have a dealership 15 minutes from town. With 13.5 total hours on the machine it lost all power to the boom and had multiple fault codes pop up. The dealership had to bring in a rollback to pick it up off of the jobsite. Parts are on order. I bought it on March 12,2024 I went on vacation. Came home and took it to do nothing more than spread some gravel and that happened. 2023 New Holland C332 fully loaded

I am from uk we have numerous Jcb machines over the last forty years, they have given no more problems than any other brand of machine. Your dealer is not very good at all, our dealer is 80 miles away and would respond immediately, sending a service person out or bringing the machine to the shop and leaving a replacement. JCB needs to look into the distributor and dealer network in USA, we get product surveys from JCB about the machines and our dealer to see how they are doing. This is obviously not happening in USA.

With respect to the wheel loader not lifting the skids. I’m surprised JCB does not offer published load data at various load centers. I’m even more surprised that anyone would purchase (or sell you) a small 100K wheel loader and expect it to function like an off-road extendable forklift that is equipped with substantial counter weights and designed for heavy loads at various load centers. Completely different applications.
@allenandsons4768

I am surprised he didn't do a little more research into that wheel loader. Tipping load is 7300lbs on that machine. 5000lb-6000lb skids with potentially a center of gravity 4ft away from the fork mast. Way over loaded. I think the dealer needs to properly train their sales department, and I also think he should of looked at the specs and noticed the maths not mathing, especially since he is an equipment dealer himself. I am an equipment dealer in Alaska, even the best skid steer forks are only rated for 5500lb to 6600lbs at 24" center of gravity away from mast, the skid steer quick attach mount would of been my first indication that you aren't lifting 6000lb skids on a daily basis. No clue on why he needed a 100k tax write off and didn't just by a forklift for the same price.

@@GoodWorksTractors I just looked up the 407 and it took only 30 seconds to find the payload. It is listed as 3,666 lbs. I agree that there is no definition listed for what exactly payload is, but generally that is the weight that can be lifted and transported safely. And generally lift and payload capacities are “best case” scenarios with the load close to the lift point, etc. No way I would believe a dealer that tells me that a machined rated by its maker for 3,666 lbs would lift 6,000 lbs on forks where the CG of the load might be 3’ away from the lift point.
