Many people think that TBLeague (Phicen) figures are made of silicone, but it was confirmed by the company that they are out of TPE. I have heard in old review videos of Vader and Luke that TBLeague figure got a better material. As an owner of at least 6 Phicen figures with metal skeletons, they are robust but the material at the elbows is sometimes thin ... sometimes you can see the metal skeleton when the elbows are bend.

I had the Luke Skywalker version and its rubber started falling to pieces around two weeks after opening it. I ripped it to pieces down to its stainless frame and made a terminator out of it. What a waste of money, I only collect 1/6 scale now, that takes enough of my cash.

Your points are valid. This is as close to a "Mego" Darth Vader as I'm going to get. When the rubber becomes a complete mess I will get a black jumpsuit and transfer everything to a Mego body. I'm happy with it but you are correct. That Bespin Luke is a mess and it is already rotting. The promotional pictures made the figures look like they were wearing cloth outfits. Live & learn. Great video!!!!

I had no idea this figure even existed, it's really interesting to see Hasbro try to take a crack at Hot Toys style figures. They try fairly often to try and compete with high end import items, and usually the result is pretty disappointing.
@The_Mojave_Mailman10 күн бұрын
Back in the day, I don't think Hasbro was able to pull this off right, but now a days with all the advancements, I'm sure they could nail something like this with a stretchy nylon suit, the same way hot toys has started to do. I'd be interested in seeing this come back depending on who they chose to do

I have the Hyperreal Luke. It's a nice detailed art scale figure, but decided to find a semi-relaxed pose and keeping it like that on display so it doesn't tear. No issues so far. I agree the original release price for those figures was absurd. Got mine on amazon for about 35 USD.

I have the TBLeague Death Dealer and can confirm that you want to keep these kinds of figures in a case, minimize exposure, and use relaxed poses for long-term display. I'm not sure if TBL used a more durable material, but I still wouldn't risk it.
@Freefall3477 күн бұрын
I had a handful of 1/6 TBLeague figures (mostly the Egyptian Gods), and believe me, they tear too. Doesn't even take much. Like, a Captain Morgan pose is enough to mess up the knees over time. I'm not messing with that company anymore; the whole point of the endoskeletons (to me, anyway), was the insane amount of posability you get out of them, but then it turns out if you actually use it, you end up ruining them in the process. May as well just be statues. And that isn't even getting into the issues of how to clean them if they get dusty.

@kalebpinkston34955 күн бұрын
The tight metal skeleton probably is why they tear so easily. Rubber body is fragile and the skeleton is so tight user have to fight the figure just to pose it where only stresses the rubber until it tears

I was excited for the idea of this line of figures; bigger, more detail, but the execution is bad. Even if they'd been able to use a durable rubbery coating that lasted; then figures like Luke should've had cloth clothing. Boots and gloves would be ok in a rubbery material.

It's cool that Hasbro experimented with this type of figure. Clearly they were not set up for this type of figure, but much like their smaller experiments like Galaxy of Adventures they jump in with a weird launch, flop, and then bail before the line can work out it's issues and build a fan base.

I think the force effect part is actually meant to mimic him deflecting blaster fire with his hand, like he did with Han on Bespin. That was always my best guess, anyway (given the Luke from this series was Bespin Luke, I figured Vader was as well, and I wouldn't have been surprised if Han had showed up in the next wave if the line had continued.).

I wonder if the rubber body was supposed to make it more durable than the Pleather body suits that Hot Toys uses. Unfortunately, if that's what they were going for, they wound up running into a different durability issue with the cracking rubber. I wonder if Hot toys could achieve a better take on this concept given that they've been dabbling with silicone bodies on some of their figures.

I've had this figure for about 3 years. I haven't any tears in my figure. I don't put him in any dynamic poses. Vader doesn't do that so it looks weird to me when people do that. Swapping the hands is a pain in the ass. I also feed a thin wire through his cape. There is an empty fold in it... almost as if it was planned at one time.
