We are talking about reductive elimination, generally in RE,charged species(especially Sigma donar ligands such as CH3,H can participate, not pi acceptor).... now if we go conceptually, on RE oxidation state have to be decrease by 2 units right? In example metal has +4 charge,so on removing 2 CH3 it will go to +2....if we remove CH3 and co, charge will decrease to+3 since the co is neutral ligand... this is conceptually violates RE,so CH3 and co elimination not possible. Extra information : On the other hand in general pi acceptor ligands form strong bonds with metals as they involve in pi back bonding with metals,so elimination is not that easy, hope your doubt will clear.

Nope.. The number of Electrons are increased by two units as the upcoming ligands bring that two electrons with itself. The upcoming ligands make two bonds with metal center which need 4 electrons but they have only two so metal atom provides them that 2 electrons and get oxidized. I hope you got it.

Look at the who system dear, the upcoming ligands bring two electrons with itself and they are counted. There is the formation of two new bonds which need 4 electrons, two are provided by the metal (by getting oxidize to +2) and two by the upcoming ligands so the whole complex is increased by 2 electrons.
