I never heard the term Grandpa Granola before but Its just been added to my list of catchphrases. Also I was driving out by Neils neighborhood doing side work as a deliver guy for some health food company and this big effen buck with huge antlers wanted to head-butt the grill of my Honda HRV. so I kept backing up slowly nearly running off of the road because of the wide turns (all dirt road)

elderly poodle i would guess it was not commercial enough for MTV at that time? Radio and TV pioneers like Tony Wilson and John Peel would have had no problem recognising genius like this. They were probably just in the wrong time and place when this busted loose. I only recently discovered this myself and was as guilty of considering Neils work 'granola' as much as anybody else even though i love all of his early back catalogue LPs. I only recently heard 'Trans' and its futuristic concept makes more sense to me now in the context of this collaboration with Devo. It would have been to much of a 'Bob Dylan goes electric' moment for his older generation of hippy fans as it is truly a sea change in style.
