I have a Gulf Fritillary question 🙋. This year, all/most of the catties are dying on the leaf before they reach the chrysalis stage. They look healthy, then turn black. Their bodies seem to dehydrate, then the catti loses its grip on the leaf and drops half-way off and/or leaves a greasy outline on the leaf. I've heard of a virus called baculovirus that infects caterpillars. I pulled down most of the passion vine so as to discourage more butterflies laying eggs. Last year - a bumper crop of beautiful butterflies-- I'm on the AL gulf coast....Comments please!!
