JD 450B Oil in Steering clutch. It wasn't what I thought it was!

Quite a big job for this little fix. But I am confident that I found the smoking gun here.

That is a GREAT find,9 out of 10 techs would of assumed the o-ring, put in a new one only to find the leak still there and totaly p#ssed, this is why things get sold at times...Won't forget this one...Glad it was raining today and I watched this...Good job...Liquid pipe dope will seal those threads...

Permatech Rtv ultra black on the threads will seal that up. Clean with brake cleaner and get some between the mating surfaces and the bolt head as well.

I had to take the tracks off my 450c, I beat on them, heated them and was about ready to give up. I used an electric jackhammer with a pointed bit and that drove them out in seconds.

I have to break the tracks on a 1963 1010 crawler this weekend. I’m going to steal your track press substitute. Man I hope mine comes out that easy.

Never seen that but understand completely how it could happen. I believe any locktite would seal that as long as you used brake clean on the threads and had them completely dry and gave it several hours to cure before filling the rear end. May be wrong on that but I would be caught trying if I didn't find anything specifically for it.

@6:51under the grease fitting there should be a check ball in the grease of the track tensioner. A ball bearing about the size of a marble. I have seen many vids of people losing it.
