One thing that's separated Hinata from other shy love interests is that despite her personality, she's one of the bravest people in the show. She might not be a very strong shinobi, but no one can claim that Hinata is a weak *person*. Shikaku, the smartest man in the Leaf, already stated that anyone heading onto the battlefield would be merely a liability due to the sheer scale of the powers involved, but only Hinata went up to support Naruto when he was down for the count. Hinata's once again willing to put her life on the line to fight even though there's not a chance at all for her to win. It's truly admirable. That said, we shouldn't forget that Hinata's being utterly foolish and arguably selfish here. She can't do a thing to Deva Path. She's sacrificing her life for no benefit whatsoever. So, she admits that she's being a bit selfish here. She wants to show her love for Naruto at his most helpless, and I can't fault her for that. It's the same thing she did against Neji where she got so hurt that she still had lung damage until Kabuto fixed it, and she would have died had the Jounin not stepped in. Hinata will push her all on the line for the sake of proving herself to the one she loves. In that sense, Hinata is exactly like Naruto. About the confession scene, remember how Naruto forgot all about hurting Sakura when he transformed into the four-tails? Because of his transformation this time, he forgets the confession, so this whole thing won't be brought up for a while to come. It's unfortunate for us shippers, but what can you do? You'll have to get into The Last before everything gets really brought up again, but The Last is quite the beautiful movie, so I'm looking forward to it. Of course, it's pretty clear at this point that the final pairing would be Hinata x Naruto, and everyone still shipping others were just lying to themselves. Hinata's the one who's loved him all this time, even before people like Iruka acknowledged Naruto. Pain vs Nine-Tails is a very controversial fight in the Naruto fanbase. People either love it or hate it with almost no feelings in-between. I'm mostly a manga purist, so I've got to admit I'm on the dislike side. It has some really "funky" animation, and its additions don't often make much sense. As you guys put it, "where'd all the water come from?"

Hinata was very strong even as a genin. She was one of the 9 classmates who could beat most of them. Except naruto, sasuke and shikamaru maybe. But she had to fight against her year older cousin that was considered the best genin at the exams and she still put up a fight

I feel like most people overlook how overpowered pain is. I mean the dude had to be nerfed multiple times for naruto to stand a chance. They had nagato be crippled to near death, needing him to split his power to six bodies whereas if all the power was in a healthy prime nagato he would put pain to shame. They had pain used a huge amount of chakra on the leaf village to weaken him a considerable amount, then he faced naruto with all the toads and intel and still naruto lost. He fought the six tails for a whole episode damn near forcing it to go 9 tails, and after all that... well... spoilers... lol.

gotta give some props to the animation department... they managed to make the incomplete KeyFrame work pass as if it was some kind of alternative style on purpose... the weird deformation of the characters was the lack of KeyFrames from the anime department... since there are not enough "main" frame drawings considering there was so much movement... The automatically computer generated frames gave way to weird misshapen pictures... That happens because this particular episode had so much movement that they needed at least 5 times the amount of keyframes in the same 1 week schedule they have for the episodes... so instead they only doubled the key frames and ended with more movement but weird effects... also the environmental animations like the breaking rocks and stuff were downgraded to more basic geometric shapes and simetric formations because they moved too much too... and there was too much interaction with the actual animation. But they did a good job at handling that much and made it look like it was on purpose to give it some kind of unique style...

I’ve always thought about this. Your response it makes no sense tho. One of the dead bodies was destroyed by one punch from naruto. What power is superior is it sage art or the nine tails power? It has to be the 9 tails power. If so, those crazy 9 tails attacks should have finished that pain off. Remember sage mode naruto took out pain with one punch certainly a hit from nine tails directly should have too. Only thing that could probably solve this issue is that since there is only one pain left naguto can fully focus his chakra into one pain making is stronger rather than focusing into 6. Idk maybe I’m wrong but IMO the last pain should have been destroyed by the 9 tails hypothetically speaking.

just being honest I was into the manga around or just after the pain arc (can't really remember). I was always semi-unsure just how alive/not-alive the pain bodies actually were supposed to be. Even to this day I'd hesitate to give my opinion since I'm just unsure myself.

@@TecTitan the only two possibilities i can think of is the whole chakra going to one pain made him stronger or the fact that each pain had a different resilience due to being different power levels when they died. Yahiko would've been the strongest being at least low kage lvl and the others being average to above average jonin lvl. With the boost from Nagato it wouldn't be too far fetch to believe that an undead kage lvl puppet could be able to withstand these attacks.

The reason Yahiko's Pain body is "durable" is because it can repel, remember theres only 5 seconds cooldown. It seems he doesn't feel all of the damage because he was already a corpse to begin with. The water and vines I think are from Naruto's 9tail chakra, somewhat like Nature energy affecting its surrounding.

When all of the rest of Pains are out, Nagato can focus all of his chakra in just one body as he did to the destroy the village and his Deva Path is the strongest by far between all of them. Also I think 4 Tails Naruto is weaker than Sage Mode Naruto. In fact in manga he instantly transformed in 6 Tails form.

To clear up any confusion about why Tendo Pain was so strong, all of the chakra Nagato had been dividing up between the 6 pains as well as his own body has been focused completely into Tendo Pain now. The combined sum of Nagatos chakra is tremendously more powerful than the sum of it's parts. He also shortens his own life span to supply additional chakra.

Most of the goofy stuff that happened in the fight were not in the manga and is anime-only filler for the battle. (Like hammering Pain down into the ground, or his legs becoming like a cartoon character when he runs on water)

Seeing Hinata down Naruto seethed through with the worst emotion he ever felt according to manga. This is really a powerful scene for NaruHina Naruto almost gave up everything thinking Hinata was dead. After his fight with pain Naruto specifically look for Hinata’s chakra and the village he cried knowing they're safe. In his talk with the sealing frogs remember when Naruto intentionally hurt Sakura he promised not to release Kurama ever again but after Hinata hurt he broke that promise too see in Hinata down. Don’t want to spoil you guys but you should watch Naruto The Last movie or even go extra and read the novel it explains why how Naruto perceived Hinata’s confession before watching the last few episodes. This couple’s really has this deep connection and complex but since Hinata was side character and Naruto a shonen(battle) manga Kishimoto didn't focus on the romance that's why they barely had screentime together but when they does it's like “for better or for worst” kind of development they're either protecting and and believing in each other always it's really wholesome MIGHT BE SPOILER: he also admitted in the interview that he wanted to confuse readers by having Naruto, Hinata, and Sakura love triangle but it's all about Naruto and Hinata at the end.

The animation is purposely made like this to show us that Tendo Pain is just a puppet not a human being thats why he moves abnormally and doesn't get serious damage like he should if he was a human. Since Tendo is a puppet he doesn't show any emotions while getting hits. The only time when he shows any facial expressions is when Nagato himself shows it.

Village hidden leaf is like the capital in the land of fire so the other villages in the land of fire will come to their aid and as for the economy, don’t forget they are shinobis , in the shinobi world you bust ur economy by producing lots of talented ninjas( chunin & jonin) for different high paid missions or producing tons of ninja weapons for domestic uses and oversea exports and as we all know since og, konoha got some talented weapons manufacturers and high numbers of Jonin, as for the missions, individual shinobi get paid and for the village they get like annual share or something from the daimyo of the land of fire according to number of successful high paid missions and profit of the weaponry market , although it was not actually explained through out the series but thats how it is.

One thing I recently realized about naruto going full 9 tails is the fact that once he releases the seal the 9 tails takes his body and Naruto dies so in this moment naruto is in so much pain that he basically stopped trying and gave up living just letting the 9 tails do it's thing to kill pain

So alot of people really hate to animation in episode 167. But I really believe it's one of the best in the series. It's just that the art style is really jarring when you consider the personality of pain. He's considered this stoic character and when you see him making these exaggerated movements, it comes off as....weird.

Nah, the artstyle/animation is pretty bad in some scenes considering it was done by the same team/individuals who the the Sasuke vs Naruto/Orochimaru fights. I'm trying to find the link to a reddit thread where someone posted a link to a question; a Japanese fan asked one the animators that worked on episode 167 about the style of the animation and got a reply back (this was over a decade ago...) So everyone knows that the studio has different animators/team (usually the "good animation" teams works on most of the fights and the rest are done by the rest of the teams). Allegedly the team was excited to be working on the Sage Naruto vs Pain fight but they were instead told to work on the Hinata/Kyuubi vs Pain fight instead. The team wasn't too thrilled about that (both of those were less than half a dozen panels in the manga) and they decided to go with a very deliberate and different art style for them.

I mean when he smashes his fist into the ground if he just had a normal angry face it wouldn’t really convey how strongly he feels about that so adding that sorta art style made it more impactful but I guess it’s not for everyone
