I love Wet Willie so much. Wet Willie II is one of my Top Ten Records. I love the fact that Jimmy Hall is still recording and performing. Little disappointed with the audience in this video though. That must have been tough for the band to work through. No one dancing. No one standing up. Ridiculous.

I bought WW II in downtown Mobile, Alabama when I was 13-years old on a state Key Club Convention trip. WJLN in Birmingham was playing some cuts off the album one of which was Airport. The album had been reviewed in Stereo Review which pushed my interest. I loved it and played it over and over. Then the watershed moment was Drippin' Wet. What a great live rock album. Now here's to the best of my memory. It was either 1972 or 1973 and I saw Wet Willie at Boutwell Auditorium (it may have still been called Municipal Auditorium) in Birmingham. Lynyrd Skynyrd (just starting to get a little buzz) opened for Wet Willie. I was as the Brits say "gobsmacked" by this fantastic double bill. Glad to see Jimmy, Ricky, Jack, & Donna are keeping the flame burning. T.K. Lively has been a very long-time member too if not quite original. Wish they could have got John to come for some of that trademark electric piano he was the absolute master of...but this keyboardist is spot-on. This is fantastic stuff. the audio is quite clear and even mixed well. The cymbals are really snapping which fleshes out the top end. If I'd have been in the audience I probably would have made a scene because I'm so happy at this late date to see this on video I can only imagine how I'd have been if I'd been there. I would have either got this audience moving or I'd been escorted somewhere else! I think Wet Willie is the most underrated Southern Band that made it yet failed to get their just due. They were and by listening to this are still hot.
