+DucksDeLucks The fact that LF aren't in the HoF means that it don't mean a thing. Some great actors never get an Oscar, but that doesn't diminish their talent. Just means some judges got custard for brains...

You got that right. There are many, many talented people who aren't better known either because they didn't fit the music business' idea of what would sell, or they just weren't in the right place at the right time to get noticed. That doesn't change the reality of their talent. Hats off to all the fine musicians who keep playing for the love of it, whether they become famous or not.

When I was at RRHOF last June LF had almost half of the exhibit dedicated to '70s L.A. Sound' with thier stuff, including two Lowell George Strats. How can The Eagles, Jackson Brown and Linda Ronstadt be in there, and not LF? Fucktardary... BTW put in Eric Johnson and Joe Satriani before they die, or worse yet can't play.

Little Feat has, by far, been my favorite concert (early ’76). Stood 10 floor rows back. Early on I got so 'energized' I managed to coax about 400 people behind me to get up off the floor and join the party. A newspaper article the next day stated how awesome LF was and how they out-performed the headliner, ELO. We left after their first song. As ELO sings “Don’t Bring Me Down”! Well they did! Sorry ELO fans. Just not a match. Outpunched. Grateful Feat fan.

I briefly met him once , after an Atlanta show ( 2009 , maybe??) Really easy goin , nice guy - I tried to see if LF may be interested in playing a festival in our home town , on the waterfront- we had had Blues Traveler the year or so before- he said , sure - only problem was the county wasn’t willing to pay any premiums for entertainment that coming year . It would’ve been a heck of a show if The Feats could’ve played!! Rest In Peace , PB.

I was born in 1968, so I'll be 50 soon. I was 9 years old in 1977. I'm not stoked to be middle-aged, but I almost wish I could trade 10 years of my life to be born in 1958 so I could've have been old enough to see shows like this. The 70s were truly the apex of rock's potential. Great post - thank you.

I'm a very old keyboard player, 55 years playing in every kind of semi-pro band. I've played with terrible drummers, competent drummers and one or two very good ones. But Ritchie Hayward was simply magnificent. On a different level. And Little Feat the best band I ever saw. I was in the audience on this video. Unforgettable.

Wonderful. So far behind the beat and perfect for this band. Not many drummers could do what he did and stand out. Always trying new things and throwing new beats into the mix. I love just watching him. His suffering as he endured his fatal illness was a tragic example of the disasterous U.S. medical system. He looked a great, happy, wild guy

Been a fan of this band from the Quartet days, so sad to hear of Paul Barrere's death this week. Paul was such a kind person, I managed to catch him at a stage exit and he was kind enough to sign a concert poster I had brought with me. I asked him where the rest of the guys were, he took me backstage and to a rear exit out to their tour bus !!!! Holy crap, he had everyone sign for me, I was floored, how many rock stars are going to do that ??? Anyway, I will never forget Paul and the boys, I am filled with grief tonight so I'm gettin out the records !!!! ( that's right, I said RECORDS!! )

Seems Lowell left some of his genes to Fred Tackett & Bonnie Raitt. They have that Lowell sound (kinda). No one else I know of seems to. Bonnie is a female Lowell, LMAO!!! 11-09 or 11-08 was Bonnie's 70th birthday & the college or community station played a lot of her stuff. Sounded great! I always liked her attitude with that Strat & that patch of gray hair! Very cool! I wish some of the newer female artists would learn a lesson & get down when they play & sing. And get real bands & dump the synthesized backup & thump-thump fake drums!

Heard a band in fells point Baltimore play oh Atlanta who put that on vinyl. And I listened to the album then I was hooked. My girlfriend (now wife) went with me to see them in concert then she was hooked. Seen them live at least 10 times and never disappeared. They played at a concert hall/club Bohager's and somehow met Paul Barrere and Richie Hayward and talked to them for 45 minutes or more. What a thrill. They deserve to be in the rock and roll HOF.

Thanks for posting. This is just so great; this band, my goodness, all of them are institutions. I consider Ritchie Hayward the most underrated drummers of all time; he's back there keeping perfect time with feel, playing his ass off and singing his ass off.

Amazing! I had the greatest good fortune to see Feat live 5 times, this gig being the last one. Unbelievably, I remember it being the worst I saw them! Says something about how great they were live, I suppose. The albums never got close. Thanks so much for posting.

I used to know Lowell's son, Forest, back in the early 90's. We had mutual friends in S.F. and would go to Dead shows together. He said his mother had a ton of live material that she wasn't going to release or make public. I wish to God she would reconsider

The story goes they preferred the live recordings to the studio ones and recorded a lot of their own gigs. There are bootlegs reputedly put out by the band, one being Electrif Lycanthrope, which is rated as one of the best bootlegs ever in the history of everything.

Yep, was there, in the 5th row at the Rainbow, great gig! In fact, one of the very best ever. With one of the best bands ever, with the great Lowell George. Remember they were arguing a little with each other about the arrangements..but the music rocked & funked! Saw them the year before, or maybe it was two years before, at The Hammersmith, they blew us all away! Really fantastic! Great to see this, thanks for the memories.. even got all their signatures somewhere, as somehow got back stage!
