It has a lot more projection than I expected from cedar, you are definitely doing the right thing in the sound chamber to give projection like this. I'll run it through it's paces more tonight after it acclimates to here and I'll get a sound sample with some music from it posted very soon. Thanks Jimmy, I'll pass your info around to my flute circles, etc. As soon as I can record a proper full review I'll put that up email you the link. Hey Jimmy, I was wondering once you oil the flute with the wood bowl finish oil do you ever have to do it again. It says it is an oil and urethane together.
@JDFLUTESandCREATIONS2 жыл бұрын
It will depend on the player....If the player gets a lot of moisture inside or onto the flute, the flute may need to be re-oiled. I have some I made back in 2010 I have never had to re-oil them. They still look like I just made them. Which I don't have much moisture when I play. I hope this answers your question?

Hey JD...what size blank do you start with to make the flutes? I can find wood like 2x6 of cedar and some 4x4s. I would think you need like 2.5 x2.5 or 3x3 to start out with don't you? I love those eastern red cedar flutes and plan on getting me a low D .

Hello from us in Holland 🌷🌷🌷 I am was very happy to found your interesting video,s. You explained very clear and carefully how you make a flute like you do. I am a hobby woodworker and made a lot of art projects in the past . Now, special for my coming concert as singer and arrangeur , I want to build my own flute. I made myself the first one with a 40mm plastic pipe , to see if I can manage. The result is satisfying and that for the first time. Now I would like to build a flute made from wood. Your video,s make me curious and so I ask you to help me a little bit . I want to build a bas flute f.i. In D. What are the measurements for this flute… your finishing of the flutes a have study that on your video,s. It were a big help if you give me a list or a message. Maybe I ask too much, so no problem if you refuse….. awaiting your answer Jan
@JDFLUTESandCREATIONS2 жыл бұрын
Hello Jan you are not asking too much it doesn't hurt to ask. To be honest I don't write down any measurements when I make a flute. I make it as I go. Each of my flutes are different they are never the same. The only way I can help you is maybe your can order one of my flute blanks. They will be already concert tuned. All of the hard work will be done for you. Then maybe you can look at mine to see what I did. I have shipped to the Netherlands many, many times. Please email me at jdflutes@yahoo.com if your are interested. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks so much, Jimmy.
