Thanks for sharing your knowledge, your one of my favorite channels on You tube, I've been watching for about a year now, and I have found out I really like firearms and learning all the different types, history, and how they work! Especially the old-school guns, thanks for sharing, I appreciate it!!

hello from canada. on my semi-auto 551 LB (recently re-classified as prohibited by the trudeau government), there is no indentation of the lower receiver around the selector switch. that's the only difference i'm sure of. the upper receiver reads "09 classic green carbine ESF 1111(dummy serial #)"

Do both the SB and LB 551 have one piece barrels? What options are there for suppressing these one piece barrel guys in the US?

Misha, agreed on it feeling handier... Actually don’t mind the aluminum lower as it is just a modern take on the 55X. Love mine!
@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
Yep, agreed. Not sure why so many dislike the lower. The 551LB isn't a classic STGW90, so it doesn't ahve to have all classic features from the '80s.

Can jdi repair or replace your 55x if need be? Also could you review the apc 223?
@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
JDI has parts, but there's really no way to totally replace a firearm these days. Sorry, don't have an APC to review, nor do any friends. If one comes along though, of course happy to take a look.

Interestingly, they are actually a little bit cheaper to get in 2018 than they were in 1988, and that even includes the cost of the buttstock.

Yeah but a 16 or 17 can’t touch a true 55X in terms of quality... there is a reason for the price tag!

@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
Totally doable but the alloy really gives it a nice balance and shaves off weight where it counts. I will probably leave the LW lower on it afterall.

Man if only someone made 80% receivers for these Swiss guns. All you'd have to do then would get yourself a Ghost Gunner, pop that sucker in, and you'd get yourself a Swiss receiver in minutes.
@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
Well, Swiss parts but still assembled here in the USA. Not saying that would be bad, but on the otherhand part of the charm of these is that they are built entirely over in Swiss-land by Swiss-folk.

I would love to get my hands on one of those. It would look great in the collection. I hope they shoot as well as the other swiss made guns I've shot.
@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
I am sure they do. I've never had any kind of real issue with any of the true SiG or SAN SG55x guns. They were originally designed for extreme durability, and over the years, the Swiss have maintained a very high standard for fit & finish.
@ffarmchicken6 жыл бұрын
If these guns are such good sellers, why don’t other companies try to import them? I wouldn’t mind picking up one myself to add to my herd.
@OriginalBongoliath6 жыл бұрын
Price The gun in the video is $3400!! You could buy a SCAR-17 and have some money left over for ammo!! Now don't get me wrong I love this gun. The closest thing I have to it is my SIG-556 clone. However your average buyer would scoff bringing up what I mentioned about the SCAR or how many AR's and ammo they could buy for $3400.
@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
The difference is when you ever go to sell one. What is a used SCAR worth? My original SG551SB sold for $5k on GB and I had $3.5k in it. So taking that profit really helped with getting other Swiss firearms. I've yet to loose money on one. The demand always seems higher than the supply. Funny thing is years ago, Colorado Gun Sales charged $4k to convert someone's SIG556 into a SG550, and people did pay for that.

Ugh, I've been unsubscribed again!!! Knock it off KZbin!!! Thanks Misha for continuing to make great informative videos on all kinds of firearms! Say Misha, if you had to choose between the 551 short barrel or long barrel which would you choose? I'm leaning towards getting the LB just for convenience. Also what are your thoughts on the Swiss alloy lowers? Thanks!

When will these be available and what's the MSRP?
@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
Please watch the video. Both of your questions are answered directly in it towards the end.
@williamhedrick79836 жыл бұрын
No more will be available unless he imports gray / green 551s... could be a possibility? Or “kits” being a barreled upper which you can also request matching BCG then you’d have to buy a none matching lower... but that is it for 551-LB complete guns
@lioncelica51706 жыл бұрын
Why would no more be imported?
@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
The lowers Dave has, at least right now, are unserialized. So at least there wouldn't be a mismatched number.

@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
Sorry, don't have any idea what you are talking about. These come in as pistols and are sold as pistols. Once they are in private hands, who knows what people might do with them? Barrel's over 16" and it can't go full-auto, so its legal under the NFA, and that's what matters, cheers.
@tarnapolsky45936 жыл бұрын
@@ozarkbeararms8840 oh I absolutely agree with you 922r is a bs unenforceable rule that's aimed mostly at imports, I was just joking
@TeCHnORiOT6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I don't even think anyone's been convicted of 922r violations, but I still wouldn't risk it.
@tarnapolsky45936 жыл бұрын
@@TeCHnORiOT I wouldn't care nobody is coming to count the parts on your rifle and even if they did they couldn't really prove that you intentionally broke that law, you could have bought it second hand was told it was all kosher
@ozarkbeararms88406 жыл бұрын
Nothing risked here. I've asked the ATF directly on 3 occasions what 922(r) means and how it is applied. From those talks, I insure compliance. Just seemed easier to go to the source rather than try playing keyboard lawyor, but that's just me. Want to know something even funnier? Because of the inexpensive foreign made AR15 parts on the market, I bet you there are tons of those guns out there that technically have more than 10 imported parts. But how do you know? Not all US parts are marked as such, and more than once I've had parts with 'US' on them that turned out to be foreign....and that's not even getting into the whole 80% thing. Could go on and on, and it would make your head spin. As for the SG551, the good news is that SIG Sauer (US) parts fit and work in orig Swiss guns, and since the 551 has a fixed flash hider, really it just needs 5 parts. So practical options include: handguards, gas system (aka piston assembly), op-rod (aka cocking handle), bolt carrier, buttstock, and FCG components. Also, RobertRTG and others now carry US made floorplates for SG55x mags too, so there's another part if its needed. Heck, you could even drop a SIG556 Classic lower on a Swiss import. Not only would this give you like 6 US parts at once and w/o gunsmithing, but also allow you to use AR15 mags. So no worries, you gots options.
