Dealing with some weird throttle issues feeling like the car is being held back under light throttle. She’s got some leaks too so I figure may as well go through it and knock out these maintenance items and hopefully have her back running 100%!!
@turbospool7 ай бұрын
Oh heck yea! You got some good maintenance going on. That's excellent!! One tip just in case you have not come across this- After replacing the OFHG be sure to do the engine oil priming procedure (very easy, I just unplug the ign/inj harness connector at the rear of the DME, then give it one long crank, let it sit like 10-20 seconds, then 2 short cranks. Connect the plug at the DME back on, clear the codes, and you should be safe to start then)! This is very important. You want to get the air out of the oil circuit before you go start the engine :-) . Hopefully this takes care of that roughness you're feeling! After you do it all, you can also try the throttle adaptation procedure. Forgot how to do it but it's easy and there's How-To vids on here for it. Good luck!

you mean the black engine cover with "TWIN POWER" and the BMW roundel on it?? You don't have to use it if you don't want to. I don't use it because I haven't made my cuts for on it to clear the new routing of the crank case vent line and the suction jet tube line from my BHP intake. It's been off for maybe 2 years now lol. @@boredaz10 it APPEARS that it would be easier to do on this one. Looks like the calp is clipped in place around the perimeter so you should be able to start unclipping and work around it til the lid pops off to access the diaphragm and spring of the PCV valve itself

@@turbospool Hey mate, how is your cover holding up? Do you find your pcv valve is loud? Mine has quite a loud hum. Not a loud squeal look failing but very noticeable hum. Have seen several others on n55 fb group with same hum. Would you be concerned of possibly just a noisy pcv compared to stock?

@@boredaz10 mine was fine while I had it. I checked with the new owner and he says all is normal still. But you're now the 2nd person here on the comments asking about a hum noise. @craigscotty28Ай бұрын
hey man i did this with the same JDMspeed valve cover and everything but now im getting a loud humming noise that only stops when i remove the oil cap…any ideas what this could be? i’m stumped
@turbospoolАй бұрын
A lot of variables to consider. Any idea where the humming is coming from? Determining that would be my first step. Did it start right from the beginning of having this aluminum valve cover or did it start sometime after? Is it under load or at idle? Check all your intake tubing connections. Check that your crankcase vent line )the corrugated tube for the PCV) doesn’t have a crank in it as it gets brittle with age. Is it PWG or EWG- if PWG check that the vacuum pipe is attached properly AND that you have a vacuum cap on the unused port on the side of the valve cover.
@turbospoolАй бұрын
If all that goes well you may have gotten one with a faulty PCV diaphragm and I’d contact the vendor at that point. Maybe they can supply you with a replacement PCV kit (the cap just pops off and the rubber diaphragm and spring are right there, so very easy replacement). If they cant provide that id ask for partial credit so you can order your own N55 PCV kit
@craigscotty28Ай бұрын

I have a dumb question the valley on the passenger side with 2 nipples and the hose is that needed on ewg cars or just on pwg cars
@turbospool7 ай бұрын
Not a dumb question at all. So BMW uses the same exact VC assembly for ALL N55s- be it PWG or EWG. This Aluminum one is based on that design so it can fit all applications. On EWG those two nipples are simple not used. Doesn’t hurt anything as that is just going to the vacuum chamber that’s integrated to the underside of the VC. EWGs don’t use that at all so you’re good.
