Note : It's best to put a loop of coax just under the connector to stop the weight of the coax pulling down and creating a break in the inner conductor and stopping it from working. In short, cable tie a loop of cable so there is no weight on the coax plug.
@JDubbsadventure Жыл бұрын
So at first I had the loop and I got crucified for it an now I keep hearing I need the loop. I can’t win for loosing
@adelarsen9776 Жыл бұрын
@@JDubbsadventure Well it's quite simple. A coax hanging directly on the plug will cause the inner conductor to break from the centre pin of the plug. It stops working. It's standard practice to put a loop and take pressure of the plug. If it's not convenient to do it right under the plug then do the loop 16 inches down. The whole idea is to stop gravity and the wind from rattling the mechanical joint between the inner conductor and the plug centre pin. Oh, and don't think that lots of cable ties will fix the problem either. Gravity and temperature change will still break the connection. Does that sound logical ?
@JayantMathur1987 Жыл бұрын
@@JDubbsadventure keep the loop large. Coax breaks of the loop is tighter than 1-2 inches. Make the loop huge like 6-8 inches so there’s no chance the coax will break inside.
@brianvandy4002 Жыл бұрын
@@adelarsen9776 If you look, he has several cable ties and the hose clamps. When he lowers the mast you can see the wire gets slack between the sections, so the weight of the cable is NOT on the connector. It isn't an issue.

This is the best thing you can do for the price! I use old fiberglass masts for portable work with a heavy duty speaker tripod ( like what a rock band uses for holding their PA speaker cabinets up off the floor) what really makes these tower/masts better is making aluminum brackets to mount a good pulley for pulling up the center of an inverted V antenna or inverted L type. But you can mount and stand off VHF/UHF antennas mid mast as well. Have fun with it! Hi to Axle ! He says "c'mon and play dad!🙂
