The lyrics, the instruments, the arrangements, her performance, her expresions (when she pretends to cut her neck -resembling a dead bird), wow!, this is such a unique piece of art. I can´t help crying every time I listen to this song, it´s so vivid, she pauses, she speaks, she complains, and sings in a perfect fluid way and personifies perfectly someone who's suffering, heartbreaking, and the pianist, the orchestra as a perfect partner in this powerful moment. Thanks Lara Fabian for living in the same time than us to appreciate and celebrate your talent.

@@DalionHeartTTV You got me genuinely interested. I am on a search for the greatest singers, as music and singing in particular is almost the only thing left that makes me feel.... Anything. Who is the best singer for you if you don't mind sharing? Or perhaps the top 5 if picking one is too hard?
@DalionHeartTTV4 жыл бұрын
@@lazaruslong697 While many might disagree with my initial response and may even use this response as justification for invalidating me going forward, that is fine. I am well aware that all of this is merely subjective, and my statement was hyperbole at best. For me, in terms of personal taste, you cannot go wrong with the vocal trinity. Celine Dion, Aretha Franklin, and Whitney Houston. To me, Dimash's vocals, while impressive, seem like an unsustainable gimmick. It invokes the memory of my first time hearing Meriah Carey sing and hit her whistle register. While everyone around me was impressed, I was just in awe at how stupid it was. It didn't sound good, for one thing. But for the first time in my life, I was finally able to see something I feel people more knowledgeable than myself should have seen, but refused to because they were experiencing rose tinted glasses. I'm usually the one in that seat, as I am obsessed with finding singers few others would listen to, like Joanna Newsom (Cannot recommend enough, if you can get past the cartoonish characteristics in her vocals.) I recommend her song Peach Plum Pear, and En Gallop. So beautiful. (Anyway) I knew from the first time she hit it, that her career wouldn't last long, and that she would soon tear her vocal cords. It was only 5 years after that performance that everything I suspected began to come true. Now you're lucky if you can get get to sing Happy Birthday without five layers of vocal tracks, loud background music, and auto-tune to hide the damage she's done to herself. I hope I'm wrong about Dimash, but even if I am, I don't find his higher register to be all that appealing. P.S. If you decide to look for Joanna Newsom's Peach Plum Pear song on KZbin, I recommend the 11.16.06) live performance. Her album cover is too crowded with aftereffects. The audio quality of the live performance isn't that great, but you get a sense of her technique, her personality, and a great view of her harp skills. Sawdust and Diamonds from the same live performance is also fantastic, but the song is pretty long. (Over 9 minutes long.)
@lazaruslong6974 жыл бұрын
@@DalionHeartTTV Thank you for your amazing response. And while I know and love the three aforementioned singers, Joanna Newsom is a name I haven't heard before and after searching her up on YT now and listening to a few of her songs, I must add that sadly so. And she is a harpist as well! That's double awesome! She is very good and her singing has a very distinct personality. Thank you for introducing me to her, one can never never know enough amazing singers. ;) By the way, screw what "some or many" might think. Thank you for doing a reaction to Lara Fabian and especially this song. The original version of this song was by a French singer, Serge Lama, in the early 70s. It wasn't a huge hit. Shortly afterwards, a major French singer, Dalida, covered it, and that cover got a lot more attention. This song has been covered numerous times since the original, by different people, but I think THIS RECORDING is by far the best. To me, THIS RECORDING of Lara Fabian singing this song is like the original Broadway cast recording of Jennifer Holiday singing "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" from Dreamgirls. I just haven't found a recording of either song that I like better. Epic masterpieces.

You know that she also did many English songs (I love the Ballard version of „I will love again“) but if she sings in french it’s like „she is wearing her real skin“ and then you have moments like „je suis malade“ coming out. As a German who loves Brussels enormously.... I m glad that I’ve been able to follow her footsteps walking around in the area where she was born. She really deserves a little more recognition in Brussels I’d say. Ty!

None even come close. Does Mariah, did Whitney, Streisand, Morissette, Celine belt them with emotional power in 12 languages? Also she wrote “ Adagio” “ Broken Vow” She also acts them out with her body. She embodies the songs. By the way , “ Lara With Love” is my favorite live concert of all time. Just to give an insight to the song. It was writen in 1973 for Serge Lama's wife Michèle by Alice Dona. He sang it and made it a huge sucess. The Egiptian/French signer Dalida also sang it. It's an old song. Lara (the first name Lara is clolse spelling to the last name Lama) certainly pushed the emotion. And yes, French is a unique language, being a francophone I feel previledged to understand what is being sang, but I don't feel like all the profound essence is conveyed here. There are so many French songs from the late '50, '60 and '70 that have incredible meanings. I can say that I am very lucky. She is one of my favourite signers. If I recall, her mother is Italian, father Belgian, she migrated to Montréal Québec where she launched her signing carreer. You can also find videos where she sings in Russian. That makes four languages that I know of.

Actually, Serge did not have a big success with it - Dalida who was the biggest singer in France at the time recorded it - with the hopes of helping him, it became huge hit and her signature song which unfortunately reflected her tortured and tragic private life ending in her suicide. You can see Lara's inspiration here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/poCtc2WBr6uNbtE (Olympia Theatre 1981 - watch to the end)

Je suis malade (song) The real story of the song When the song was written, Lara Fabian was only 3 years old. Je suis malade is a song by Serge Lama, released in 1973 as a single and on the album Je suis malade. Written by Serge Lama on a music composed by Alice Dona, the song became the most emblematic title of the repertoire of Serge Lama who regularly takes it on stage 3. History The song Je suis malade was inspired by a real heartbreak of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love was a certainty, but neither of them was free: he had married Daisy Brun, his press agent, in 1968, and she was married and had a son. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedom, but Michèle hesitates and finally flees him and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick. Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona, composes in a few hours a melody [...], that very quickly, she makes the singer listen. It was a revelation and Serge Lama wrote almost the entire text in one go. He will say later "The 80% of the song I wrote in 20 minutes, it's almost a shame [...] it came out of my heart so much that I [...] immediately felt that this song had something that the others didn't have". However, nothing is done. His record company Philips does not believe in the song and to impose it Lama threatens to leave if he is refused to record it3. He wins his case and soon Je suis malade is released as a single. Unfortunately, the radio programmers prefer the B side, the lively and cheerful song Les P'tites Femmes de Pigalle which becomes a hit6. At every opportunity, however, Lama sings Je suis malade, on television, on stage [...], recognition will come, not (in this period), through him, but from a cover by Dalida very touched by the subject of the song and whose inspired and desperate interpretation will seduce the public. After that, Serge Lama's popularity was turned upside down and he definitely became a recognized and popular singer-songwriter4. Many years later, the artist confides: "An LP of Serge Lama at the time it was worth 4000-5000 albums [...] But after Les Ballons rougesNote 1 it is 1 million4." Recognition came for the creator of Je suis malade, in 1974, when one evening on the stage of the Olympia in Paris, Serge Lama completed the song by interpreting it without a microphone a cappella in front of an audience conquered by a triumph. Another happiness, the return of Michele, free and together, they give birth to a boy named Frederic in 1981 and marry ten years later8. Michèle died in 2016 at 71 years, victim of a stroke9. Her death gives the song another dimension, Lama who has not given up singing it on stage says: "Every night when this song comes, I know it is an obstacle that must be jumped [...], it usually takes me a minute to recover [...], this song deserves to be given everything". Words on behalf of the father Je suis malade is doubly autobiographical for the singer-songwriter who includes in this story of desperate love feelings from his childhood. The anger, the suffering that Serge Lama expresses with the verses "I am sick as when my mother went out in the evening, And that she left me alone with my despair" or "I am like an orphan in a dormitory". These words to the attention of his lover to whom he reproaches his decline, it is in fact to his mother that he addresses them, casting himself in the skin of his father, formerly a singer of operetta in search of success, who, pushed by his wife, gave up his career [...]. This father to whom Lama "lends his voice" when he claims: "You deprived me of all my songs, You emptied me of all my words, Yet I had talent before your skin. This period of his childhood, Lama has already evoked it in the song half sweet and half bitter Le temps de la rengaine (in 1968 it opens the album D'aventures en aventures): "[...] Mama dreamed that she had a real kitchen, While Daddy was barking at the Capucines, It was a nice time that this time [...], One day daddy sold margarine, So that mommy could sing in her kitchen, It was a hard time that time, I have tears in my eyes when I think of all that". A few things first. This recording is more than 20 years old and typical french, written by a man. No American can write or sing this. Lara is an outstanding singer with a beautiful voice. On top of that she is a performer like no other. At that time she had some relation problem which reflect in this song. You can also see " je t'aime' when her fans lifted her up. Lara is Belgian Italian who lives in Canada. Don't underestimate her, she is more than just a singer. She speaks 7 languages and sing in 15. She is a text writer and I think composer as well. So she is a Grand Lady. Luckily she is married now and has 2 children. But her success continues. Oh you should also see her duet with Johny Halyday, Reqiuem pour un foul. Another one that can only be French. You will be blow over.

Hello Lara’s rendition is the best and will never be equaled. But I would like to introduce you to a 4 male crossover harmony group callrd “ Forestella” from South Korea. When they performed their first song ( the Freddy Mercury classic“ Bohemian Rhapsody”) it catapulted them to international stardom and they now have millions of followers worldwide. They were all at one time solo performers. One has a very deep bass/baritone voice. Another, a high operatic voice, and the other two group members (who were also solo performers at one time) combine to render “je suis malade” a confluence of absolute total passion and performed live on stage in front of thousands of fans. I thought no one would ever come close to Lara’s soulful rendition. And no one vocalist will. But when you have 4 members and the best vocal harmony group in the world, well. ( all I can say is have your Kleenex handy) Some of their other songs I recommend are Simon & Garfunkel classic “The Sound Of Silence”, Guardian “ Angel” that will lift your spirits and transport you to another world-especially during these troubled covid times. And the hauntingly beautiful “ hijo de la luna” But “ Le Suis” remains my all time favorite. I’ve watched it 5 times and each and every time it moves me to my depths. All love from Miami Beach , Florida, Al

With Je Taime I like the video of the audience singing to her. You should do Adaigo Broken Vow Caruso. It took her about a minute to come out of the song.

I love how you react after seeing the entire thing rather than being really noisy through it all like some do to the point where it's obvious they missed half the video ! Anyway great reaction!

From France ! Thanks for youre video, was nice to see you reacting on her song. Well it’s not hers but one of SERGE LAMA, a beautiful french singer, who describes to perfection what it feels like to be left by one s love. And yeah your right it helps to hear songs like that when you live the same expérience. ✌️

Louisville, KY - FAVORITE is Adagio (Live in English). Then listen to it again in Italian, because you'll feel her passion in a totally different, and beautiful way. I believe she speaks and sings in 5 or 6 languages. She's also Belgium's all time top selling artist. FYI...She holds the final note you like here for 17 seconds! PEACE!

You had a rough time keeping your composure, you got emotional a few times . I heard her 100 times, she still breaks me, and the more life experience I gain as I grow old, the deeper she reaches into my chest

PS. She was betrayed by the man she was going to marry. The useless foo was fooling around on her when she was on tour, an that was what Broken Vow was written for, his betrayal

OK, this is the second time I watch you... This song is great... She feels sick because of a toxic man (toxic women exist also, not a question of sex)... My ex husband, who has the same work as mine, teatcher, never educated my daughters... I love them more than everything in this world... He started to be horrible 2 years after we were together, really awful, his parents too... I lost my father and they were horrible, very hard with me... Then, he started to take all my money, took my job, the carrier I was supposed to have, his parents were still horrible with me and he never defended me, never, I was a bad mother, whatever I could do, as my girls always wanted to stay with him... He met another woman, then he was so horrible with me that he put me in an psychiatric hospital, where I've been agressed... He told me me I could never be loved, he would take my daughters, just with by egoism, he said lies about me in my job and manipulated my girls... Now, I can't teach and can't see my daughters anymore... That's what we call a narcissistic perverse... I'm completely broken but I still live... I'm helped by an association, but it's very hard to still want to live, I'm so alone. That's what we call a toxic relationship, I support that for 15 years, and I know it's not over. I don't see and speak to my daughters because, manipulated, they hate me and forgot I was the one who educated them. This is the worst for a mother. I'm threatened by people then I must must move, and justice doesn't help me because it would be better if I was kicked by him... Psychological perversion is not recognized, but it kills... This song is important to me, even if I don't love him for a very long time, I just want to be protected from him and be alone for ever... Sorry, I had to explain what can be a toxic relationship... Be careful and happy ❤️

Lara’s Version is incomparable. But their is an Internationally known world class 4 member crossover vocal harmony group from South Korea called “Forestella” with millions of followers and they give an incredible performance of je suis Malade. Your goosebumps will have goosebumps! And your face might be inundated with tears. It’s a sad song and they illicit the sadness but their harmonies are angelic. Their mother tongue is korean and they probably spent months training for this and mastering French and performed it in front of their home crowd of thousands of fans. You tube “Forestella Je Suis Malade” You will thank me if you do react publicly or if your subscribers privately react. All love, All

Favorite song is "Je t'aime", grew up in Québec listening to this. She burned her words in my soul. So stange and nice to be watching this here xD Lara is a as great a Dame if not greater that Celine Dion in my opinion.
