Thsi song was written by iconic French singer Serge Lama (who made a name for himself by also creating a musical about the Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte), and composed by Alice Dona, his former partner in life. It quickly became a hit and his most famous song, so much so that he can not perform without singing it at everyone of his gigs. Lara Fabian covered it the way we hear it here, and that probably was her best performance ever. She is a highly skilled singer, but her choice got her to work with poorly inspired producers and tour managers. This got her a reputation of a "superficial" singer, when all she ever wanted was to live her passion for singing. This moment shows how invested and focused she is, perhaps too deeply to have a good knowledge of what happens around her (my 2 cents analysis on what she has been through). Some day tough, she may well kick back and surprise everyone with her true and pure talent. I strongly recommend everyone to have a listen at the duet she performed with the late (Claude) Maurane during the 18th "Victoires de La Musique" (French awards for musicians and performers, in pop, classical, jazz). They paired to sing live "Tu Es Mon Autre" ( = "You are my other [one]" or "You are my alter ego"), and this probably was one of the greatest moment in the history of live pop music. One to remember indeed, and everyone in France and Belgium has a place in their hearts for this song.

Hi man, she's absolutely fantastic! One of the best vocalists in the world. She's originally from Belgium. Her mother was Italian, she died a few years ago, and Lara did a song for her. When she was 20 years old, she went to Canada with a music big friend, and there she started her musical career to the world. She studied at the Brussels Conservatory during 10 years where she was formed in bel canto, piano and dance. But she preferred sing pop music. She's living in Quebec, with her husband and daughter, and her father I think. Now she's 51 years old, but you have to hear her singing yet, amazing, really amazing. Hello Gaby S. First time I see one of your video. Just for the records (even if it must have been said already) this song was originally written, composed and performed by another artist named Serge Lama, and many other artists, including Mme Fabian, covered it. For the song itself, It's all about your feelings when you're forsaken by someone you love and need. The singers just say how non important, useless and unvalued they feel at that moment. Pretty hard song to sing, technically and emotionally.

When this was recorded (2000) she was 30 years old. Lara Fabian is pure beauty outside and inside. She never spoke ill of any other singer and everyone who was working with her says she is the nicest and most humble person you can imagine. She speaks perfectly Italian (her mothers language), French (she studied in Belgium where here father comes from), English and Spanish and wrote lyrics in these languages, but sang in 12 different languages. Furthermore, she also composes, directs and produces music.

Lara is Belgian. Lives in Canada. Fluent in several languages. Currently she is in her 53 year of life but probably in her 30's here. There is a video of her, Dimash and Aidia Garifullini performing ti Amo cosi you night be interested in, It is much later in her life than this performance. She makes the heart of Dimash race, even with the 25 year age difference between them. She wrote the words to the Dimash song, "Your Love".

Beautiful reaction - it's wonderful to see the depth of your response to her. She has the ability - and WILLINGNESS - to do raw emotion in her performances. That's so hard, so profound and so frightening to most. Watching her, you can see why as a schoolboy Dimash was mesmerized... It takes enormous courage to own powerful emotions in a performance. Soooo. To answer your question, Lara Fabian is now 50 - you couldn't tell... - and is married to an Italian magician, who I believe is around 36. Don't know who's the lucky one ;-) And she is an astounding singer... This version of Je suis malade just sends the ball out of the stadium. Je suis malade is a song by Serge Lama, released in 1973 as a single and on the album Je suis malade. Written by Serge Lama on a music composed by Alice Dona, the song became the most emblematic title of the repertoire of Serge Lama who regularly takes it on stage 3. History The song Je suis malade was inspired by a real heartbreak of Serge Lama, the story of a long secret relationship. In 1969, the singer met Michèle Potier in Chamonix. Love was a certainty, but neither of them was free: he had married Daisy Brun, his press agent, in 1968, and she was married and had a son. They love each other in secret for several years and promise to regain their freedom, but Michèle hesitates and finally flees him and settles in Morocco for professional reasons. Lama is desperate, he wants to put words on his pain without succeeding, until the day he confides in his friend Alice Dona: "this story hurts me, it makes me sick. Back home, at the piano, Alice Dona, composes in a few hours a melody [...], that very quickly, she makes the singer listen. It was a revelation and Serge Lama wrote almost the entire text in one go. Lara was born in Belgium in 1970. She has so many beautiful songs like « Parce que tu pars », « L'oubli » (about her mom's illness), « Pas sans toi », « Je t'appartiens », « Aime », « J'y crois encore », « Broken Vow » and so on. Not only she can sing but she also writes her lyrics and she is a great musician (she plays the piano). In France, she has had rough years because lots of people (journalists, comedians, other singers...) thought she « screamed » too much (true story). It was a very violent period for her. She is still an easy target for some journalists but nothing compared with what it used to be. I started listening to her when I was 10 (so 24 years ago), I've seen her on stage several times, she is impressive and so talented. And you know what ? The louder she sings, the happier I am! :D
