@@evakiss2562 regardless of how rude or "outrageous" someone acts, you don't get to decide that person doesn't get to live because you got your fe fe's hurt. Adults in a civilized society are supposed to be able to control themselves, even when they are done wrong. This is how a child acts. Gets so overwhelmed by emotions that they can't stop themselves from lashing out. But I thought all that talk about women and their emotions was just the patriarchy trying to bring them down. Hmmm.......

Bob probably fled with her because he was like "OMG, I was just playing around a little... She really loves me that much?? I must protect her!" You know, maybe he also felt like he was nothing besides good look and social standing.

She just had to dance with him in front of everyone, that was a big F you! Do I think her response proper?! No absolutely not, but she was humiliated and shocked and pregnant. It was a spur of the moment killing, not first degree murder. I guess she taught her husband what lengths she would go to to defend her honor, and his love.

Crimes committed in the heat of passion are excused in some modern day societies still. Brazil is one country in which a jilted lover can, in a fit of rage, commit a crime of passion, killing the cheater and need only turn themselves in afterwards for a greatly reduced punishment phase. France, Italy, Texas believe it not, Australia, Portugal, and others have provisions in the law justifying homicide under the code of honor when dealing with interlopers and or cheating spouses. not saying this is right or wrong but the strain and pressure that such an event would impose upon the psyche would be mind altering at best.

The behaviour of the husband and his father and brothers was quite extraordinary! Despite witnessing the horror of what Kate did, they all acted in unison on the spur of the moment and gave up everything to protect her from the law, voluntarily becoming fugitives themselves. Not many men, either then or now, would be so noble. On that basis alone, this has to be one of the most bizarre Brief Cases I've seen.

I suspect he enjoyed making her jealous to make himself feel so beloved. He must have thought of this whole drama as some sort of romantic game. If he wouldn't, he wouldn't have eloped with she. Bob was a complete jerk. And the inviting of Narcissa to the party was also a stupid move if she was the kind of woman to sneak about walking in the woods with a married man. I feel the commuted sentence was appropriate, as was the guilty verdict, but I feel Bob got off lightly for instigating the whole thing and that Kate's parents should have been more concerned with her emotional well being than making everything look right socially with the handling of the party. Great story, good cautionary tale!

Their flight from the town with pistols at the ready is straight out of the Wild West. (Keep away from me and my wife or I’ll shoot my way outta here. Go on punk - make my day!) And Kate’s father, who invited the appropriately named Narcista and her family to the ball, didn’t seem to like or consider his own daughter much. This would make a good true life film drama 🎬

Although Kate's husband was not liable by law for the murder of this woman, there were moral implications since he also was a co-conspirator in incurring jealousy within Kate that led up to her murdering the Southern Belle (sorry, can't recall her name now).

Kate was the only Southern Belle here. Not that sweaty cow 😂

@@laurieb3703 I agree. I used that designation for the 'sweaty cow' only because I was writing my comments as B.C. narrated and I could not remember her name. Sometimes I have to hear names repeatedly for them to stick in my mind.

Who in the world would name a girl a name that sounds like "narcissistic coward"?!?🤨 And i REALLY was not expecting that last bit! 😮
@NaigePippens
@NaigePippens 6 ай бұрын
TRUE!!! ...But just like names seems to suddenly pop up from nowhere and become popular in current times (sort of like a 'fad'), they did the same in the 19th Century, and during the time that Narcissa was born, the name Narcissa may have been a 'fad' name because that was also around the time that Narcissa Wentworth was born.

This one did have me worried; didn't think she should be found Guilty due to being fully provoked. "Crime of passion/rage" Spontaneous, seeing red, etc. Least the public agreed, too.

BC, this case was INSANE! I often respond to you when listening to your cases, expressing my surprise or horror out loud ('no, he never', 'she did what?', 'what a shifty character' etc) and there were a lot of outbursts for this case. I could not have predicted where this case was going or what on earth was going on!
