Alesi has a very unique an distinct driving style. He brakes like an human abs (full power,release,full power cycles) and he twiching the car under braking just prior to insert the car in the corner. He has one of the strangest f1 hand's position on the wheel (10-10 instead of classical 9-15). It sure looks entertaining even though many times someone speculates that he's spectacular but not so fast and consistent.
@RowhiderRCRacing5 жыл бұрын
Alési had a car control from another world and an exceptionnal attack instinct, but he never got the car capable to be fast on a full season: the 412T2 was the only one to be capable to fight for podium at each race. And in my opinion, the fact to be replaced by Schumacher in 96 to be put in an outdated Benetton team out of money nor talented engineer was very hard for him: the explanation for its hard 96 first part of season. He was far more consistent in 97 where he was on the world championship podium for the main part of the season.

There have been some others. Ayrton Senna, Gilles Villeneuve and Tarzio Nuvolari come to mind. If you branch out into the WRC, then you also have the likes of Collin McRae and Walter Röhrl. Drivers with that level of car control do exist, but they are a rare bunch.

Alesi was so good at saving his car because he DIDNT do what every other F1 driver in history does when they start to lose control; he DIDNT slam on his breaks and locks up his wheels, he slightly eased off the throttle, or steered with the throttle, and he never overcorrected his steering, he always turned the wheels just as much as they needed to be.

I wish Alesi would have been better with set-ups and the 412T2 was more reliable. Apparently the V12 made the car unstable during deceleration which neither him nor Berger liked ( funnily enough Schumacher apparently did like it as it suited his driving style, yet he got the V10) and was losing power as time and laps passed.

Yes, the 412-T2 was magnificent, last of the Ferrari V12s, designed in part by John Barnard if I'm not mistaken (?), how fortunate for us fans that it was driven so masterfully by one of the truely great driver pairings in F1 history. For me, the 1995 season began in a fog of depression w/ the loss of senna and the re-configured layout of magestic circuits like Imola, but the Ferrari team's struggles and successes that year held me spellbound.
@Stiffjab712 жыл бұрын
@@toddfrendell6837 Yes Barnard designed 1996's F310 so he definitely was 42T2's father. When Michael tested 412T2 for the first time by the end of 1995 once he got out of the car all he said was:"how could you lose the Championship with such an engine?". That was cheesy but Ferrari's V12 was truly one of a kind. Ciao!
